7:20 I haven’t read past the khezu arc I plan on to just haven’t gotten to it I like the story to btw but the guys role model in flash hunter literally is a guy who just loves hunting and becomes a manic maniac lol. Now idk if it changes or if you’ve seen more then I did that shows more of his backstory making him less of that but as far as I can tell he’s exact what I summed up. One of my favorite quotes of his so far when asked why he became a hunter back before he went batshit was “I live for the moment when I shine more brightly than anything else. Even if it’s only for an instant like a flash in the night sky.„ what I took from that is he just likes to fight. He enjoys the rush of overcoming odds greater than he is like how anyone else who plays the games are. I think it’s the idea of doing something you find cool or a feat you find to be great it takes me back to whenever alatreon released for world and within 4 or 5 hours of him releasing I managed to beat him with a water glaive completely overcoming those odds. I think it’s that was my flash in the night sky moment. Now idk if he becomes super edgy or completely uninteresting after the khezu arc and I wanna see it I just have a bad attention span as of now and ide rather play a game over reading that in these times. I’ve been waiting on going on a long trip or car ride to get further but that hasn’t happened in a while.

Finally someone mentioned this manga, its honestly disheartening that this series went under everyone's noses and when I discovered this manga I was just utterly amazed as the world just comes to life page after page. With worldbuilding this robust and art direction thats both endearing and terrifying at times alongside, this series is almost comparable to some of the most recognizable stories ever written. A shame that its just not as popular.

It's definitely an unfortunate reality that the biggest complaints about this series leading it to be unpopular just... Aren't true
@IchBinAiken2 ай бұрын
@Bison-Storytime yeah, when I saw some forums boils the entire series down as just whaling propaganda, the story is so emphathetic with the creatures that when the moment you saw characters that's actually trying to eradicate the dragons you feel the frustration the characters have during the "Typhon" arc. The story is just really beautiful to the point that this manga has been my favorite after reading the first few chapters.

Whales were sustainably hunted for thousands of years, and even still are today in remote locations by endemic populations, it is only with industrial whaling that it became a problem.

I still think it's unethical to hunt animals which are so intelligent. But I understand that there's still a lot of nuance to the subject in the case of tribal hunting and that they do need to eat.

@@theblazingredcomet1954 @theblazingredcomet1954 yeah that's a totally reasonable and understandable position. It's not one I necessarily agree with personally, but I'm sure neither of us want to have a debate about whaling ethics in a KZbin comment section, so I'll just keep it at that lol. There's a 3rd manga my G, it's called monster hunter episodes. Each volume is a contained story following the adventures of a different hunter. @@Bison-Storytime it's an epic manga series by famed animator Hayao Miyazaki of Studio Ghibli renown. You should check it out! While it has giant monsters, it's not quite "monster Hunter" esque, in the same sense, but there are some fun similarities. (A giant poisoned forest filled with giant lifeforms that humans dread to enter, for example). There's a film but it's only the first book. The manga goes on for several more books, but I've never finished it.

This is coming from a person who adores and has adored it for almost a decade now monster hunter and also is very interested in this Manga series I think there are more valid arguments against whaling than just that they are being sent towards Extinction. I'd argue killing intelligent animals like this is immoral too. I also generally disagree with what I understand as your perspective on animal rights activists. You are right though that we can portray these different perspectives in stories and not drill it in to the audience that one perspective is bad. It makes the story ten times more interesting. I will be checking this Manga out tho, thanks for the recommendation

Feel free to disagree, I'm glad we could find some common ground and if I got you to try out this excellent and underrated gem of a series, than that's all I really care about. I think this series gets an unfair rap for things it doesn't do, and that the author should get a LOT more success than he's probably seeing for what I think is close to a masterpiece If I may ask, what do you believe my opinion is if animal rights activists? By the sounds of it, I fear I may have left an inaccurate impression of them due to the fact that I'm very much so on this mangas side in that it's not pro whaling or anything, and I'm curious how I came across from the perspective of someone who isn't me

Honestly I wholeheartedly disagree about what you said about Flash Hunter having no real adrenaline and feel of danger to their hunts. I don’t really know, have you ever got to the Arc about hunting Tigrex, but that thing was just a menace through and through and characters REALLY struggled through it a lot. Same things later when they fought Kirin, who just casually eliminated whole squad of the guild’s hunters beforehand.. Honestly Flash Hunter is really full of such moments when they show people actually struggling in hunt, yet when it’s done it’s always a big relief.
@Bison-Storytime3 ай бұрын
@@Aurinor no you misheard. I said flash hunter does a FANTASTIC job of making the monsters feel dangerous and serious, but I don't feel adrenaline that comes with the joy of hunting, I don't feel the thrill of the hunt. It's hard to do both

I wish MH would make a show that actually takes itself more seriously and isn't targeted toward small children. That being said the only show I've seen is the one on Netflix that covers Aiden's origin story/ the MH4U characters. It was nice to see these characters a bit more fleshed out, however I am a grown ass man. The show is VERY geared towards small children and the dialogue was kinda cringe to listen to. I just want a MH show that is a bit more mature. I don't need blood and guts or anything, that would be going too far.
