I straight up learned how to drive past a cars limits from video games. I first played any controller game, easy, managed to learn oversteer and understeer and how they both affect the car, it's "dumbed" down and simplified for controller on some games, others its more direct (BeamNG, before oversteer update. or Assetto Corsa). basically it's less accurate and you have no FFB, but that forces you to make it necessary to rely on your visual ques. I then got a wheel, cheap but usable with force feedback. I learned how to physically put those ideas of over and understeer to use to go fast or have controlled oversteer. Then I actually bought a RWD car (2019 BRZ) and now can throw it sideways with no adrenaline rush, and do it completely controlled. I do it in my own lane (on tracks obvvvv) I try not to do it with oncoming traffic for safety in case I make an error, but people who say sims can't teach you, are sorely mistaken.
@TheLtVossАй бұрын
Well if it is a sim with good physics absolutely you learn what too doo with minimal feedback and the real thing gives you full feedback but the controls should be the same too transfer the skills

as a person who has been drifting in beamng for over 3 years and probably 700 hours in the game I will say that it is a very good tutorial. I started with no idea about drifting, I played with mouse steering so it was even harder. At first I drove 200bx which only had welded diff and drifting steering and I only used clutch kick. Thanks to Initial D I started doing mass transfer, when I started drifting on touge sometimes I would understeer at the beginning of the turn, after setting camber, caster etc I understood how important suspension tuning is. This tutorial tells in a few minutes what I had to discover for over a year, watch it and lets drift

Well it is the only sim that simulates almost all moving parts especially suspension parts and it gives you a real sense of danger since well touching a wall at 100mph will fuck the car 99% of the time 😅 and the combo with automation too build and drive your own mad shit crasy cars if you are also a bit into the mechanical stuff makes it even better I had love it too test and tinker with my cars till they feel insane on the track for example a time attack DeLorean with a 5.0 V10 on lots of boost and literally tonns of downforce and same other tricks i learnd on the way well 4G too 5G turns on almost any corners of the Nürburgring and a decent top speed of 380km/h well it crushed the fastest revord on the ring by about 1 min 😅

so handbrake entry does slow you down from entry speed, the usage of the handbrake will make you able to get higher speeds up-on entry. fastest entry is a combo of flick, clutchkick and handbrake (if you do have enough power it can also be a faint flick handbrake entry, without clutchkick). I often use these on tighter turns so I don't have to slow down before the entry and are easily able to link a track, on longer highspeed corners I don't use the handbrake unless I make a mistake and have to correct it not going into a wall. I've always been told that the handbrake is a tool for drifting, you can use it, but only for consistency, correction and fun. use it as little as possible, but learn to use it, it can save your car and drift whenever you need to. (a track that "requires" you to use your handbrake doesn't exist, but a track/car combo that requires it does exist, keep that in mind)

How to drift a fwd car: Ebrake on a turn and floor it (but u ruin your tires) Wait for it to snow or get icy outside, be stopped, turn steering wheel all the way, start moving, full throttle, then move the steering wheel the other way and full throttle again, boom fwd car slid without ebrake (I did it irl it was kinda fun)
@TalksWithNoise2 ай бұрын
I can send a fwd car like no other. In Beam that is given it’s slightly downhill. Put as much weight as you can above the front wheels :D
@adbulbinzyed21062 ай бұрын
you can also weight shift the hell out of it into the turn while controlling throttle and brake i'd say it counts as a drift that way
@MusifierOfficial2 ай бұрын
@@adbulbinzyed2106 yeah, honestly as fun as rwd drifting is, fwd drifting needs to be a thing too, its much harder and if you do it good its much more rewarding, pulling the ebrake just ruins the tires tho

I will say, while the BX is alright to learn, the stock drift configs in general tend to have a lot of turbo lag which makes learning difficult. Though it may seem underpowered, I think an N/A 3.0L I-series with no ABS is the best learner, especially for touge. The 3000i has enough power to hold a drift while having no turbo lag, a linear powerband, and beautifully balanced handling.

If you don't like self steering yet have a keyboard like me, it is possible to get to a point where you can drift without any assistance, but MAN is it a lotta work and practice. Your fingers will have to spasm as fast as possible to stabilize the car's inertia and steeeing.
