Drifting My S13 in Japan for the FIRST TIME!

After importing my Nissan S13 SR20 to Japan I finally got to try drifting it at Ebisu Circuit for the first time! Unfortunately I dealt with various issues with the car as it is a newly built drift car but by the end of the weekend it seemed to be drifting ok! It needs a different alignment and new radiator but its close to being a great practice car!

Some of my friends here in okinawa had those problems too. Heres some of the things that were wrong we found here that you can check out: the spring at the end of the throttle cable on the throttle body needed to be replaced, Idle Air control valve was dirty/broke, idle set screw too loose, most people here after stock MAF went out went to Z32 MAF but that requires a little more work, check for vacuum leaks post MAF. Man I feel your pain. I had a crap ton of work popping up on me at once. Brakes went out, my transmission is making some crazy ask noises, and it overheated on the highway all in one week. Thats one of my cars. My GTO's AC went out after I just replaced it, my power steering went to out and to top it off Im trying to buy a house haha good times. Keep at it man its been rough for sure but you are where most of us want to be right now. It always blows my mind seeing some of roads you are driving on and the tracks Ive only seen on Assetto corsa.

From the outside footage the car look like it was puffing out a bit of smoke and with the idle it could be maf related over fueling to compensate. edit just seen the end of the video and the bit about the maf hope everything gets ironed out ASAP

There are better ones like actual apps used for only language and communication plus they also teach you about the language you desire to know/master. (Haugen Racing could also get sponsors from aome of them lol) Overall, I think they are a bit better than google. And if they don't work that much good, at least they help a bit.

stay positive my guy. we def can tell your having it rough. i dont know much about the sr platform but after watching the whole video 3 things stood out. the idle issue could be the Electric air control valve if its equipped via coolant temperature it will electronically adjust your idle based of temperature. no/low coolant will def cause it fluctuate your idle. but with it disconnected you should still be able to have the car when all the way warmed up be able to idle mechanically. second thing i noticed was the white smoke out your tail pipe at the end of the video 11:27 ish. the smoke didnt stay long enough for it to be tire smoke so im lead to believe its water out the tail pipe. assuming your not overheating it could be the turbo if you have turbo cooler lines going to it or anything that has coolant going through it on the intake side. if you are getting hot then id suspect your head gasket. obviously the fire at the end but based off the noise that was there im pretty sure it was an exhaust leak that was super rich and caught stuff on fire. again stay positive cant wait to see the next video

the symptoms seem maf related, usually if you unplug it and it runs right (not changing the idling) maybe it went out. The fire seems all electrical

FFS!!! I subscribe to the greasy finger prints theory. If something is messed up after a bunch of work, then what was fiddled with last. You say new turbo kit? You say weird idle? I say vacuum / boost leaks. You say new noise and flames? I say loose turbo gaskets? Hopefully no major dramas and you can get this thing fired up shortly for some laps. Check over everything that was messed with as part of fitting the turbo. Bit of carby cleaner over the intake manifold can help you look for intake leaks with the engine idling. Although definitely could just be the idle screw backing in and out. MAF cleaning is a must do on the 80/90s turbo cars. Good Luck!

MAF are the most BS thing ever get rid off that thing quick and try to plug the MAF signal on a other sensor if you can calibrate it or just run on the lambda Plus i think about the shipping, the thermostat, all the hoses and seals that were sitting there can be damaged Check about the crankshaft seals if they leak or not too

How are you gonna be in Japan and be mechanically clue less, maybe check vacuum lines and such causing the low idle or even adjust the idle. When you were in fd Japan the crew you were with seemed clueless and n it a good team. I hope you can get your stuff sorted out.

the problem is both this s13 and the r32 were slapped together. Not sure how his pit crew were "mechanically clueless" they diagnosed the problem.. The fault is on whoever did the wiring job in the US, it has nothing to do with his pit crew in FD
