Chris the clunk youre getting when banging gears is most likely axle wrap. You may want to look into getting some traction bars/caltracs. And if you're planning on drifting the truck maybe eventually a 4 link as you will have a ton of wheel hop with the leaf spring setup

As far as the rear end banging make sure your Ubolts in the rear end are tight. You're suppose to check them two or 3 times after you install them

Your bang and noises sounds like binding in the rear and wheel hop. It can be fixed with some new parts. My mustang had bad wheel hop. LCA and reloc brackets helped very much

You have to remember man you still have a 4-cylinder rear end in that thing! You have to get the rear end out of like a Camaro or a Tahoe or something or even like a 1500 Chevy pickup except for then your wheels won't fit you have to get adapters because of B6 lug nut 5

What size wheels and tires are you running?

Your drivetrain issue is most likely axle wrap with that much torque through such a light duty leaf spring...get a set of ladder bars and you'll be good to go until that 8" 10 bolt diff explodes. Colorados that came with the 5.3L from factory also have a 10 bolt rear axle, but they have an 8.6" ring gear and are stronger. Basically they have what came in the half ton trucks, but narrowed to fit a Colorado. The 2wd trucks have a narrower rear axle than the 4x4 trucks if I remember correctly, so you'd have to find a wrecked 5.3L 2wd Colorado to get a direct bolt in stronger diff. Or you could always upgrade to a Ford 9", but that's not a direct swap lol.
