We make a disgusting roof scoop for the Murcielago and try to make the 964 Turbo put its power down by reducing the boost in 1st and 2nd gear. It also gets a Numeric Shifter.

Phil, I've been and Air Induction CAD designer for 30 years working for Jag, Audi, Ford, McLaren etc. I think you may be better off with two hoses from each box to get better air distribution to the 12 inlets. I'd love to help you out. Let us know. 🤘🏻

There is a reason the Murci has 4 inlets, by running 3 cylinders at low rpm on a 12 you get more torque, the butterfly opens up to all 6 only at high rpm. Lots of people have removed this flap to run all 6 at once only for it to make less power or a flat spot. You could model it off a e46csl airbox, but you run out of height at the back of the engine and deck height above the trumpet, like the 5000QV.

I make a carbon fiber cover for the GT3 that fits and allows you to see the workings of the shifter. But I will be honest, you do hear a little bit more road noise, but it looks fantastic. Also I've made a couple carbon fiber roof scoops for the merci, they very in design from a shallow scoop that just dumps air into the boot, to one that funnels the air down into the ITB's ( this is much larger and requires and little work) if your interested I can send you some photos and possibly work something out.

Might be a silly question and kind of depends how many rotations the bat wing motors do, but you could use throttle position sensors on the motor spindles to tell the ecu the position of the wings.

Love it. I'd also love to come and do the wiring and ECU stuff and maybe help with other ideas. The batwing automation you should be able to use a motor current trip to get it to turn off much like windows. Microswitches are also an easy option. So is the potentiometer to be fair but if it ever loses position you could be in for some trouble. I'd say it's possibly the riskiest variant. Or you should be able to just sniff the OEM canbus from the module if that still works and figure out the message then replicate it with the Haltech. Also roof scoop connected airbox would be kinda cool. And then use airbox intakes for engine bay cooling

Cheers. a CAN sniff has proven to be massively difficult on these cars. We've had a really knowledgable guy say he's never seen anything like it. I think we'll be using potentiometers, and setting a load trip on the PDM incase the potentiometer fails.

Carbon airbox: you could probably do all the CAD yourself and 3D print it to test fitment. The task would feel less daunting to your fabricator if he's got a CAD file to start with.

Most OEM stuff that uses a motor in that type of configuration uses 'ripple count' to keep track of motor position. That's why you need to 'teach' the end stops & then it monitors the voltage ripple on the motor drive to give dead reckoning on position. It's not infallible but it is cheap! Limit switches does work but ican be a bit crude Feedback using a position sensor is gold standard.

When is enough, enough. The car has rear glass cover which let's in air. That should negate the need for a roof scoop. But, since you're going to make one at least make it beautiful and functional as well.

The glass is to let hot air out. It doesn't do anything to provide cool air. Obviously whatever I choose to make will have functional form 👍

AEM's airbox on Ryan Tuerck's Formula Drift would be an admirable goal, in terms of engineering. Not sure if it'd be *reasonable* to work with AEM on something but you'd have confidence it wouldn't be detrimental to performance.

If you guys want to do over do the bat wings, you can swap the motors with stepper motors and track their steps with a arduino. Current sensing in my non automotive applications haven’t been that great.

@@driftworks I've got one over the engine compartment on my Factory Five GTM on a custom hatch I built. It survives there. There may be a higher temperature rated version, I have seen this done on an intake before. The C5R had clear covers built into it's intake system.

Why not go e gate? No more fiddling around with springs and no more the spring still makes too much boost without the boost controller but also can’t make max boost anymore because the duty cycle is maxed out 😉

Curious if you could do some sort of compressed air boost control for the 964 to give you basically infinite range. I know most of the drag racers use CO2 for boost control but that would definitely be impractical for a street car.
