Beautiful. I was a Navy Corpsman for 6 years. Got to party with Arty. The camaraderie that is instilled through mutual hardship is fantastic. Believe it or not these guys are just normal people who REALLY are trying to save lives. The training and exhaustion that happens here is only to see if you have the basics. The fleet is where the real work starts. Ever been so shot that you felt like you were in a dream? MCMAP in Afghanistan with "battle conditioning"... My 5'5" 150 lb ass had to reach deep to do some of the things that were required of me... But it really is your mind that breaks before your body.

I know it's not the marines, but I just ets'd out of the army on sunday after six years of active duty. I am not ashamed to say that this amuses me. However, some of the most motivated and inspiring people I met in basic training were the ones that looked like him during the first couple weeks. If you are him and you just give up, lame, don't know why you signed up to begin with. If you don't give up...massive respect. We had one guy in our crew who ran a 17 minute one mile in week two. He missed the 15:56 cutoff by twenty seconds during the final test in week seven. Drill sergeants gave him a week to continue improving and then tested him again and he passed.

I honestly had fun on the obsticle course... except for sucking at climbing rope, i did pretty well seeing the outcome of physical strength i didnt even know i had! Struggle with one obsticle that my SDI was at, telling me my only way off was completing it and having done it was because i got rid of irrational fear and anxiety. I got hurt the next day and ended up separating early out of MRP. But up until that point he got me to not only see, but trust in my own abilities! Thinking about it makes me think, "how can i make myself better?" Those opportunities have been presenting themselves to me since i came home! Ill be able to do some advanced training soon and passed my paramedic screening exam! Soon enough ill be in medic school making myself a better provider!

Had it been Navy Recruit Training, the McDonald's meal would have happened at the end of the week. (Source: experience) Had it been Air Force Basic Training, the Confidence Course would have been held at an actual McDonald's Playland and everyone would have had Happy Meals waiting for them at the end. Lemme tell you a secret that no one tells you unless you actually went to boot camp before or unless someone told you. If you fail on anything they would drop you back a week so some people stayed for 6 month and I met a few that stayed for a year or more cuz they failed let say marksmanship guess what you gonna get your ass back a week or if you cuss and be disrespectful guess what you redoing everything staying from day 1
