Your video is very helpful and much appreciated. The low quality of some of the whiny clueless comments here and the downvotes (who would downvote a help video...) demonstrate that America's youth have slid way way backwards

I had a drill press at my work. I knew how to adjust the table height. I didn’t know about adjusting the rpm setting.

I have a drill press I recently bought. I have started taking it apart for cleaning and derusting. I had to remove the motor mount. It was bolted in place by 2 tension arms that stick out the back of the cast body. I removed the tension rods, but do not know how to correctly position the tension adjusting arm when putting the tension rods back into the drill body. The drill press I own is a TOOLMAC 16 Speed Heavy Duty Drill Press, MODEL # 82-532401. 3/4 HP.

Thanks for posting the video it was very helpful, I have the same drill press which has been rebranded by NUtool, do you happen to know the belt sizes or where to find out ? I've emailed NUtool a few times and heard nothing back, the drill was second hand and I think previous owner put wrong belts in, thanks

Hi Christopher ~ I no longer have access to that drill press, so I can't comment on the drive belts. Just recalling from memory, drive belts were often a standard item in many automotive supply houses, and it was not unusual to have the worn belt replaced with an off-the-shelf item, and small adjustments in the belt length were easy decisions at the time of purchase. Take your unknown belts with you to an auto parts retailer and they can advise you. Be aware that some drill presses have the adjustments for the center idler wheel hidden, and only loosened up with a pair of bolts underneath the wheel. Good luck.

Thanks for the vid, but where I work, there is no tension lever on the chain press, or any press for that matter...I have no clue how to fix this without turning,threading and milling a whole new arm..which im sure if the owner saw me doing would go absolutely nuts!

I just got an old similar drill and the tension arm would not move. Thank you for showing me how it works so I didn't have to break something in order to find out, which is my usual learning method, hehehehe.

I have a problem and hope you can help. My drill press is a Central Machine Model 10168, serial number 0262274. After reviewing your video, I noticed that my machine does have the locking screws, but no release tensioners. Even after unlocking the screws, I cannot release the tension on the belts. What should I do.

Hi Randy - although I couldn't find much information on model 10168 drill press, you may have the type of drill press where there are 3 pulleys in the belt drive compartment. This type of machine offers a pulley on the motor, another pulley on the quill (above the chuck), and a third idler pulley in between the others. On some of our drill presses, we have that idler pulley held in place with a pair of mounting bolts found at the base of the idler pulley shaft, and these bolts will also have to be loosened off in order to release tension on either of the 2 belts. This is in addition to the two locking bolts on the outside surface of the main frame which will hold tension on the electric motor mounting. There may also be a small tensioning lever on one side of the frame. You may need an extra person to hold stuff while you're tightening all these bolts.
