Hi Evie and co,, happy birthday “young man”, When I was young dad used to say that when a calf was born yellow it was a sign that the cow would be a good milker, seems that he was telling me some tales bless him, however the reason given now is = Yellow discoloration is actually the calf's first feces passed in utero because it was severely stressed, bovines do not become jaundiced unless they have liver / blood disorder.

Nasty time to get the heavy rain directly after drilling and before germination of the seed !!, Very nice herd of cows there Evie are they Holstein Friesians , Very nice confirmation and udder on the Cow that calved , Smaller bull on the heifer's I would guess , we used an Angus bull for them . Hope those seeds dry out before you know what !! 👏👍

The Meconium (yellow colour, faeces in utero) on the calf is commoner in Ewes. Tara Farms, a you tuber from OZ who lambs up to 8,000 ewes gave a very good explanation of it a few months back. She said that in ewes it is a sign of stress and if observed on the lambs head as it is being born, the ewe usually needs (human) assistance.
