usgs has data on water table for states. you might be able to find data near your location to help decide if you have any chance of getting to water

Looks pretty sandy or soft dirt. Will a sand point not down through it? You've got a great head start!

I was actually thinking about that just getting Sandpoint and trying to beat it down. But did not get a chance still scratching my head. Lol

I thinkm you might need some scaffold maybe a few sections and I think harbor frieght has a 2 inch wide auger as well. I thought about doing it this way as Im on a lake shouldnt be too deep my worry is hitting rocks.

I like that idea. Seemed like a lot of sand for me.

@@bluephaseplus3650cable tool it in, it's slow but very very effective...google well springs Africa, or KZbin those south American well drilling machines that use a electric motor, tire and cable tools...but you can cable tool it all by hand if you have the time and no money...like I say, slow but very effective

Easy as pie in sand... try in a rocky soil. Almost all of these types of attempts are not in rocky soil ie mountainous.

@@bluephaseplus3650 LOL... when I was 70 I didn't want to know anything about "70" and no one said a word... 71 plus it seems more like a badge of honor and I enjoy being in the old age group. Thanks for your reply.

Those pipes you are using are way too long , shorter pipes will make your work easier and safer. Doing the same drilling for years, first by hand, later with an electric two-hand drill with a 1-meter extension handle. Using 1,5 meter square 25mm extension pipes , for quick conecting and enables to turn left and right when you get stuck.

Awesome thanks for your help. Was thinking of shorter pipes. Was thinking maybe 3/4". That was 1/2" ridged. I was definitely fighting the long stick s. Out in the woods did what we could

You need to go to 3/4” pipe for the drill stem.

That water ain’t far about 7 or 8 feet down.get rid of that motor auger and finish it with a Seymour post hole hand auger. it looks like it’s dry there at the time

I live in Staten Island NY and I just lost my standpoint well head down in the clay. Couldn't get the standpoint past 14 feet in the earth. Even built a tripod with 70lb weigh on a pulley to hammer it down.. No luck past 14 feet. I ordered the Seymour auger and it will be delivered tomorrow. Time for me to hand dig my well after the first epic failure.

Thanks that's not a bad idea. I may end up trying that. I believe my water table is 80'. So going to most likely have to hire a well driller but price is so high im just holding out for now.
