Being a retired geologist I started my career in 1980 as a "mud man" and then worked for a Diamond drill bit manufacturer in R&D of new synthetic diamond cutters as well as pressure coring equipment. I worked on wells from offshore Louisiana to Prudhoe Bay and in between. Probably one of the most mis-understood industries and processes on the planet. This was a great video! It should be seen by everyone.

The way the video keeps emphasizing the fact that everything is being done according to state laws & local municipality guidelines…makes me genuinely think that they don’t follow any laws for protecting local water sources. I just got interested in this video because I was watching a age of empires play through & was wondering about Wells but after watching this video I am 100% sure that whatever the fuck they are doing they’re not following rules. Lmao
@BigMan-oz8re2 жыл бұрын
you’ll find out with construction that certain states have different rules of building due to differing climates or soil types. How much humidity, how much wind, how cold, how hot will affect how the building must be constructed due to differences in state climates and the different risks associated with each factor. thats not to say that there are no rules in construction ever. just different rules for different places. Id guess it pertains to drilling procedures in different climates or populated vs rural areas. all the rules are usually public information so you can probably find them all. im sure drillers follow rules, you’ll see how strict the job looks if you apply for a position

I was a directional driller to i survived a colpase just 14 back ops later. It just has a little bend on the end so they keep in straight until they are ready and start turning it. Imagine sticking a wire stick into jelly and turn it does nothing take it out put a tiny little bend on the tip turn it you now have control you can only turn some much % per m so its not like a 90 degree turn its a nice sweep of a bend and if you wanna go straight againg you just turn the tip to its flat position

You drill for direction the entire time after the curve.. up and down hitting the layer of shale. Then you line you frac ports up a cording to where the geologist found gas in the shaker samples (they take samples of cuttings from down hole all pumped back up through the over flow every 5-10 meters).. that's actually how it works.. as if we do one curve smoosh right into sweet crude straight line baby.. yeah right..

Wells can be drilled to 20-25,000 feet deep (or more) and directional drilling is used to kick-off to horizontal. All wells are plotted very accurately so as not to accidentally intersect adjacent wellbores. They know where in space the drill bit is at any moment within a few feet. It's amazing technology.
