Fantastic video - though it was produced some time ago, it's still among the best I've found on KZbin. I'm preparing to do the clutch on my '04 K12GT and am watching as many videos and reading as many forum posts about the job as I can, before diving in. Many thanks for this one! At around 4:55 in the video we get our first glimpse of the custom machined tool you use at around 8:15 to set the tranny input seal at the right depth. Anyone know if the drawing(s) for that tool are available anywhere? I can probably bribe my machinist buddy to turn it on his lathe for me...

just cut a small section out the gasket at the bottom or form a small channel with a wood chisel on the mating face

Can u drill hole with slave cylinder installed

The point of the hole is that should the clutch slave cylinder leak that you will see the oil drip threw the small hole before it gets to the clutch disk. The oil goes down the rod and drips. Then you will have to pull the transmission.

Where cam I find the copper tube that goes into the drilled hole?

Lowes, HD, and Hobby Lobby, plus most hobby shops have a good selection of small dia brass tubing

I've been riding BMW's for 44 years. BMW used to be, in my opinion, the finest made motorcycles built. It seems now that they are over engineered and BMW is no longer loyal to their customers. Ted Porter's beemer shop is having manufactured some of the parts that BMW no longer sells like the output shaft and other things and they are reasonably priced (for parts that go on a BMW). Other wise, I would be riding a Japanese bike.

5/32 and about 6 inches long to get to the area to drill

@@guitarlosindy THANKS!! I used a 1/16" dia drill bit on a 1/4" hex drive with all the extensions in the toolbox to reach on my '99 R1100S (different trans but very similar slave cyl). The hard part was getting the hole angled so that it entered the slave cyl cavity at the very bottom. I had to make a big ding with a center punch to start the drill on a tangent.
