i have a K 1200 gt and the brakes are fantastic , you can apply full braking power and the antilock will stop it on a dime even on gravel roads ! its almost scary but i tried it and it worked flawless !

I have one...the brakes aren't aweful....they're good. It's a very heavy bike so imagine having to stop quickly at speed. They have to be grabby...you just need to get used to them.

Taking off the fairing is a matter of getting used to be it really. I have the lot off in ½ an hour. The brakes are extremely jumpy this is why I use them as little as possible from speed. Again, servicing this is purely a matter of getting used to.

How are you going to lock up the front brake if it has antilock brakes?!

Hello Endeavor Trikes! Thank you for making these videos. You said you used a generic fuel pump for it, do you mind sharing where you got it from?
@Ruleof2plus1

I used a generic auto pump which can be purchased on eBay for $12- $60 Here is a link to a mid priced unit. www.ebay.com/itm/Brand-New-Flow-Electric-Fuel-Pump-255LPH-High-Pressure-Walbro-Pump-GSS342/351949319136?epid=12041903446&hash=item51f1d06be0:g:63MAAOSwNDFbbBeR Keep in mind the key is size not construction as these all pump at over 65psi and the regulator is what sets the final pressure.

I have just gotten the 2002 for free from a friend that I plan to do long trips with from Florida. Any more thoughts on the bike since you did this video would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Ian

I sold it but all I will say is the brakes were very touchie and it is the worst bike I have ever owned as far as any kind of general maintenance. If you don't do the maintenance yourself it's going to be costly as it's pretty labor intensive to do anything and if you do the maintenance yourself you will do as I did and sell it at a loss just to be rid of it.

Endeavor Trikes Thanks for the reply, and I fully agree on costs associated with this bike. To be honest if I get two long trips out of it I would declare it a blinding success! I have seen hours on video on the K12 and yours was the most helpful. Thank you. PS: I am in the Bahamas with no where to go on a 2001 Yam FZ1.

@@afanofdieselengines675 Thanks for the comments gents. UPDATE: I did a South Florida to New Mexico and back 5700 mile trip on the LT in Oct 2020. I will add a YT vid I did link below. It was a jump on it and go ride for 3 weeks and is to date the best road trip I have done, and I do many, mostly off road in Namibia and South Africa, yearly. This trip was different in as much as I did not expect anything from the bike, but it turned out to be really great. Two issues came up, the first a harmless stutter at 75mph (her happy speed I found) that lasted for about 2 seconds and never again and the second, more serious, which resulted in me selling the bike on my return. About 3000 miles into the ride she developed the dreaded rear crankshaft oil seal leak and this continued slowly but regularly untill I arrived back in West Palm Beach Florida. If it was not for that leak, and the fact that no BMW Florida agent would touch the repairs I would still have her today. I have great respect for the LT but boy, is she a heavy lady indeed!
