Drilling hardened steel, t5 shifter rail

Wish I would have used a drill press so that the bit didn’t walk around when going through the first part of the shaft. Slow speed and high force yielded the best results. I sharpened the bit four times total with a sanding disk on a angle die grinder. I tried using lubricant wd40 but that made cutting stop, had to clean hole and bit off before it would start to cut again. Took 5 minutes. Bit did not heat up at all at any point past holding temp without gloves
