Drilling holes in a Pugaree. Does it work?

Now a RSL member and rep in UK been told to wear slouch hat in No1 ? position. Which badge to go on Raised brim, [RAF / RAAF on front with RAF Blue Pugaree] but which badge to go on side, as a RSL Rep is it Commonwealth Sunrise or as a Ex Serving Member RAF Regt is it Crossed rifles? just to let you know Akubra Slouch Hat fits great and Parades going well so far. Want to get this right as not to let Team down!

G'day Brian, good to hear from you. This is a tricky question. I am by no means an expert on RAAF matters. However will step through a few options. Army wear the Slouch hat on ceremonial occasions with the corp badge on the front and the Rising Sun on the upturned brim. The Fed Guard wear a miniature Rising Sun on the front and a standard Rising Sun on the Brim. The Rising Sun is the Australian Army badge. Perhaps an option maybe to wear the RSL badge on the front and the RAF Regt on the upturned brim or vice versa? Your option of RAAF badge and RAF Regt would also work. G'day AA, yes. Try ironing it. Take the pugaree from the hat, iron, spray on starch and steam iron. That should fix it. Let me know how you go. Regards Ash.
