Hey John I have been using a Dumore drill press for years now and love it. Very small and will last forever. Learned with it in school and got my own. It’s a little pricy but worth it over time. Keep up the great work! Love watching.

This is great... slow and steady wins the race :) I've been struggling with my Dremel drill press stand and smaller bits. I know you mentioned experience w/ them but honestly the best advice was to slow down. I was trained in metal class to go full speed, no attention to different sizes, so after watching this, I went back to my 0.5 bit, slowed it down, worked in parts like you show here and voila! I got 4 perfect holes neatly done... thank you!

I needed to drill 0.8mm holes through silver into wood so I could rivet it together. I ended up getting a proxxon micromill, it worked great for drilling holes and milling silver. I've now upgraded to a desktop cnc and I don't have to drill or saw anything now😄

Thanks for the video. I use to do a lot of piercing a few years ago but much less now. I found the drill bits and orders 3 different sizes. Checked out the Grizzly it is on sale now. Had been looking to get a bench size. Been using foredom in its drill press stand okay but. I take it that you are not center punching these just using the drill to create the divot? I had found in my more finer detail that I had problems getting a small devit from a center punch maybe I am heavy handed but some of the detail are really fine. Thanks again for taking the time to help others out.

Thanks! You are correct, I don’t bother to punch a divot with the tiny bits. I’ve found it easier to do a quick touch and go, like a butterfly kiss. Then I add a touch of pressure. It also helps to wait until the bit just starts to grab, then I release it and allow it to settle naturally in a resonant position. Then grab it tightly and continue to drill the hole. Fun stuff.
