Just to help you out. I am john with the Thirsty Historian in Munich. a couple of facts for you. You have to brewer with in the city limits and your well has to draw water from within the city. The reason other breweries are not YET allowed to serve at Oktoberfest is becausse they need to make enough for the Wiesn and for local consumption. Hacker Pschorr and Thomas Brau were all together. They also have the Pschorr Bräurosl. 10,600 seats in the Paulaner Winzrer Fähndl.

couple things, as your designated Bavarian viewer. Theresienwiese is the place, so her name in English was Theresa, German Therese, and the other part is wiese, pronounced veezuh. Robbie Williams is usually, and should only be played at the end as a closing song. Besides that West Virginia, Sweet home Alabama, I will survive, and das Fliegerlied are the typical daily songs. The Oida Wiesn has more traditional songs Local word for Oktoberfest is Wiesn, pronounced veezen. Love the vids man!

@@TheCraftBeerChannel it feels like such a dick move to correct the video, so I'm sorry my German-ness came out like this. Also a quick bit of info, the Paulaner brewery moved a few years back for a few reasons, they wanted to expand and the well they dug downtown dried up. They moved out to Langwied and every Münchener swears that the taste changed, which some like and of course many hate. So I'm glad you guys like it since I always felt they got judged unfairly since the move. Another bit of info is that there is a push to add some tents, rather than have 20 of the same carnival game, people think adding 2 more tents would be nice. The beers for those tents are pushing from 4 breweries, Giesing, Tegernsee, Erding, and Chiemsee. There are a few others like Andechs from your Weißbier video. Giesing is a newer brewery that is located downtown, so they fit the criteria and people wonder why they haven't been allowed yet. Tegernsee is a very popular helles and many think it's the best, so they argue it should be at the Wiesn even though it is very outside of München. Erding is a funny story, because they were excluded from the Wiesn, because they are on the outskirts of town, so they always went to the other oktoberfests in spite. Now, Paulaner is just as far out of town as Erding, so everyone is wondering what the excuse could be to still exclude them. Chiemsee is just another really great helles that people think should be allowed to participate, since the king did plop an unfinished palace right in the middle of their lake. So yeah, so fun Wiesn info/drama

Although they did not take this privilege this year - but maybe we have seven Oktoberfestbeers next year.

Life hack from a german here (I live about an hour away from munich) : Don't go to Oktoberfest. You can get the same beers or at least beers in a similar style for a fraction of the price in regular supermarkets. Oktoberfest or Wiesn is a big tourist trap and a bit of a scam. Try to get to some small village "Pfarrfest" (or maybe some "Volksfest" for the Funfair stuff) or similar events if you really want the Blasmusik and all that stuff. Oh and also here's a little linguistic help: We germans don't really have silent letters. If there's a P the P will be pronounced. So it really is Pschorr (Pshor) not "Shore". "Gemütlichkeit" can also be translated to "Cozyness" or "chill vibes" (as in chill out) kinda.
@lars51742 жыл бұрын
....sorry for spamming but the "äu" "Bräu" is kinda like a londoner saying "Oi". It's not "ow".
@TheCraftBeerChannel2 жыл бұрын
Totally understand that it's a tourist trap, but how is it a scam? I know locals think it is overpriced, but by the pint it is still less than half the price of a UK pint....
@lars51742 жыл бұрын
@@TheCraftBeerChannel Well yeah ok compared to UK prices it might be ok but man even the food is insanely expensive and not even that great. This year the Liter was 13 Euros. You can get a whole case of real high quality beers for that here. Also some of the Steins aren't even filled up. It's just a lot of foam you're paying for if the server isn't doing it right.

Great video! I was at the Hacker-Pschorr tent this year, and I would note that they don't serve the Marzen you had in the tent itself. I can't say for the UK, but it definitely seems like they widely distribute the marzen instead of the festbier.

Let me draw your attention to Giesinger Bräu. It is the latest brewery in Munich, that now also has it's own water supply. That is within the ruleset, to be called a "Original Müncher Hell" (original lager from Munich). So technically it also, would be able to sell their beer at Oktoberfest. But as we all know tradition is nothing that is changed quickly and this brewery is a hobby project that somewhere started in 2005 and culminated in a complete new brewery within the city border of Munich.

3:31 "Hot Munich Summer". Yes, it might reach 78 degrees Fahrenheit in July. Posting from Florida where it reached 83 F with 60% humidity today (in October). "Hot" is subjective.
