Have you ever read the book, The Hatchet? I don't know if it still is, but it used to be required reading for 6th grade in the U.S. It's about a boy named Brian who survives a plane crash in the Canadian wilderness. He's able to survive because of his hatchet and at the end he dives into the lake where the plane crashed, to retrieve an emergency food kit, just like the one in this video. When I read the book as a kid, it seemed believable to me, but now I realize how far fetched it would be to think those pouches could survive being submerged underwater in a crashed plane, next to a dead guy for a whole year.

@WAFFEN COLLIDER Yeah, I know. I saw the movie in school after we read the book. There were actually two sequels. One was a version called Brian's Winter, where it's the story of what happened if he didn't get rescued and had to spend the winter in the woods. The other I forget the name of, but it's an alternate version where he gets rescued and struggles to come to terms with what happened and adapt to living in society again. It's weird to me that an author would do that and both books actually got published.
