I really appreciate how you guys are making the point that identifying specific flavors isn't necessary nor ideal for discussing tea. Although doing so is a harmless norm, it could actually be a disservice, because good tea is so much more complex and offers an experience over and above that of simply being analogs to other food. What I find more relevant is when tea is described according to the places they transport us to, or the human personalities they remind us of.

@@Yunnansourcing so true. Sometimes I drink a particular tea and it reminds me of a song I heard while drinking it before. Or other times, I listen to a song and get reminded of the TI had it with.

The way I view finding tea flavors, it should be what evokes your memories. Every person is going have a different experience and taste with tea. And there is beauty in that. But it's more a fun thing than it is to take seriously.

Thank you for your perspective on trying new things without information or preconceived notions. I've found myself trying too hard to "find and finish" my tea journey. This serves as a reminder that the journey can and should be the best part. This is something I will bring into other areas of life as well. Please continue making content as you see fit. I appreciate your authenticity.

Well, finishing things, always leads to starting new things. I guess once you finish one tea session it inevitably leads to the start of another. The journey is but the beginnings and ends of many experiences. There is no achievement in tea drinking.

I love to try the teas with no reviews XD My favourite author when I was in my teens was Haruki Murakami and he wrote something like “If you only read what everyone else is reading, you can only think what everyone else is thinking.” That’s always stuck with me, and I think it applies here.

So happy to see all the new videos! I am guilty as charged when it comes to buying teas that have reviews over those that don't. For me personally, I like to look at the reviews to know what kind of flavors the tea has, so that I know if it might be something I will enjoy. In thinking about this, though, I'm realizing that I may be sacrificing discovery of new flavors and experiences in favor of normality. I suppose I'll try some un-reviewed teas next time I order!

What, in your opinion, is/are the major difference(s) between cake-aged sheng and mao-cha-aged sheng? Does mao-cha-aged tea have/lack anything that cake-aged teas don't, and vice versa?
@Yunnansourcing3 жыл бұрын
Aged as a cake from soon after harvest will age slower but will retain more potency and terroir than if aged as mao cha and then pressed. Aged as mao cha will have a more aged taste with less years under its belt, but can often lose some strength if aged too long or too humid.

It's a long shot, but does anyone know of a tea that is easy going on the stomach? I have Crohn's disease and 98% of the time wake up feeling super nauseous but I still very much want to drink a tea but from experience drinking tea in the morning on a (somewhat) empty stomach just amplifies the nausea. Does such a tea exist? I have watched a bunch of YS videos and seem to recall in one that he said it was easy on the stomach but there's no way I can remember which one, haha.

Blind buying is scary so I do find myself buying already reviewed teas or ones that you guys do a video on. Honestly I have bought a lot of my cakes from the video you did where you introduced the 2020 ys cakes.
