Compression couplings work just as well for this type of repair. Last week I repaired a section of tubing that had a longitudinal split in it, about 1/2 inch long, which I first cut away; I then pushed the ends into a Raindrip 1/2-inch compression coupling (green tip). It cost less, was quicker to install than the "universal" coupling shown here, and it works fine.

Compression fittings suck... they don't last. Can't tell you how many people I have helped when they keep pressing their compession T's and couplers back together because they irrigated the street's gutter with of wasted water. Perma-loc couplers don't blow out (I'd almost say never) nearly as easily as compression fittings.

Thanks for the video, but in the future, you may want to pay attention to making sure the coupling is in sight. Several times the hands are blocking the view of the coupling. DIY rocks!

Hi Blubitatub, Yep, you will most likely need to plug the hole with a goof plug and then punch a new hole in the mainline and re-insert the 1/4" tubing. Once the fitting comes out it can not be pushed back in to create a water tight connection. If you have fittings that are popping of the mainline tubing it could be a sign that your systems operating pressure is too high. Hope this helps.

Iv'e got some 1/4' tubing that has come off of the main drip line. Now a geyser of water comes out of it when the water is on. I don't know how to repair it, pretty sure i cannot just re-attach the tubing to the line. Maybe attach a goof plug to the spot where the tubing was and place new tubing nearby??
