DRIPPING GOLD TEXT CINEMA 4D TUTORIAL

Hey, I wanted to start this one on a bit of a personal note.
There are officially over 1000 of you guys subscribed to my channel since I started posting tutorials a couple of months ago and I have to say the support has been insane and a great motivator to keep doing what I'm doing - so thank you.
On that note, I thought it would be fun to create some dripping gold text to celebrate this milestone.
We are going to play around with the spine wrap, the pose morph, sculpt tools, some modelling - let's get straight to it!

Dude what are you a magician?? This tutorial didn't go well like some of your others. Don't get offended but you should really take us through every bit of the work. There are some parts that you just skipped and i don't know "assumed" that everyone would know what you did there and just follow along. I tried adding the spline wrap in the order you did but nothing happened still. You have some hdri stuff at the bottom i couldn't find that. It's really frustrating yunno

Hey Sean appreciate the fast response mate, around 8-10 minutes there's a part where you show us how to make the drips with a cube but then you go back to the main window with our spline, how did you get the cylinder / segment view of the spline cylinder? no matter what i do i can't seem to get the polygon / segment effect around the whole thing, it works when i do the cube but not on my spline.. slightly confused.. still new to C4D so you skipped the fine details that noobs need haha

Hey - are you just trying to view the detail level of polygons on your object? if you hit 'N -B' this will reveal all the polygons in your scene, hitting 'N-A' to return back to the standard shading. Hope this helps mate

Hi, Sean, this is great example of actually working in cinema 4D - props! Digging the pose morph tag-never knew about that. The scaling in the camera move helps the illusion too. Question: Curious, what FPS do you recommend exporting this for compositing into AE (or an NLE) for a super slow motion speed ramp? Would you recommend rendering it to speed as you create in the timeline in Cinema or use a "tool" by RE:vision or something? Without seeing the final composite its hard to know if time is worth spending on this vs. Real Flow-which is a time suck too just more painful. Trying to get a project done and it would seem this is pretty effective. BTW-We like the use of the HDR kit, it certainly helps to reduce the GI flicker. Good luck with your skill teaching mate! Hi! nice tutorial; I woul like ask u how u bring to Cin 4d the path. I opened the file and I see nothing, tried different scale too. Only method is when I bring the file from ai 8 but also there I can't see the path, just the outline; may is a programs version Thanks

Your stuff is awesome man, and these tutorials are great. But on the spline wrap when you drop in the capsule. Did you drop the spline into the spline wrap as well? Thats the only way I can get it to wrap.

Top right, click the magnifying glass to search, "spline wrap" then put it under a null object with the capsule. Click on spline wrap and then the "object" tab. Put your spline in the box that says "spline"

I was following along great until the spline wrap, my capsule does not stick to the shape of my text even though I've got the coordinates and everything set up you've demonstrated (that I've seen). Why won't my capsule be maluable like yours? Whenever I try changing the properties the way you have it, it either stays a cylinder or becomes a circle. Please help! New to cinema4d...

I notice at 3:10 it seems as though you drag the capsule to the null and the Spline Wrap appears, or did you press an action on the keyboard? This is where I get lost because when I import a new spline wrap it does not move the capsule onto the text like yours?

Or rather at 3:05 you already have most of it set up, if only I couldve seen the inbetween part. Because your "Null" has a box besides it- and mine does not, I feel like that is what I am missing. Could you please explain?

Great tut but there were a lot of little details you left out, like exactly how you bring the spline into C4D. Stuff like that is probably 2nd nature to you, but confusing as heck to anyone still learning.

im having trouble making text have reflections and look realistic, I have this material pack that looks really nice, but when I go to apply it on text it looks kinda dull. I added floor and lights to see if it helped it but still not lookins so good. Help?

No, just right click on it, choose 'Select children'. Then right click on it again and choose 'Connect Objects + delete'. That's it.

It's not a plugin. Just press Ctrl + G to add a new Null. . And if you're using a Mac then you have to press Command + G.

at the start i drop the spline wrap into null then capsule into null and the capsule doesn't lock onto my spline at all, it's positon just stays where i was placed when i chose the capsule from the drop down menu

Try reducing the height and rotation segments on your capsule - also turn off the subdivision to see it in its low-poly state. Cheers

Almost there mate, before hitting C drop your capsule into a connect - then hit C to bind the capsule to its position - don't hit C on the subdivision
