Fun fact: Before the release, the trailer of this film and its promotion were like it was a family film. None of the plot was revealed in the trailer. That shot of Gerogekutty standing in front of the grave of the boy that his wife and daughter mudered was the best interval bang for us. Then the movie shifts genres and becomes a thriller, taking the family audience to totally unexpected territory.

Absolutely no need for such a scene but if you had noticed that the first thought will be he moved the body to a place where he knows the police wont be able to look easily(his shop) but it was just a misdirection to cleverly make us forget that the police station floor was also cemented the same day😂.. All praise goes to the brilliance of Jeethu Joseph, the mastermind writer, director from Malayalam.. He made one of the all time finest thrilling scripts of cinema by giving us Drishyam the Malayalam Original version... And followed it by another mastercraft Drishyam 2... All these remakes were possible just because of what he created from his mind... No other cinema from India have been remaked this much... ( including the current pre and post production works)... So its ideal when you review a film you review its Original.

Actually this movie did inspire many murder coverups in kerala post the film's huge success and were termed 'Dhrishyam Model Murder' where the convicts would 'know' that the prosecution wouldn't be able to prove guilt without recovering the corpse and thus hiding the dead body under the floor, toilet tanks etc.. But unlike cinema, in reality there is never a perfect crime and the police almost every time found the culprit.

Great movie, great reaction. The script like you said is such a star on its own that there have been remakes of this film in so many languages. Original version is probably the best, but of all the remakes, probably the best one is Papanasam in Tamil, by the same director. See if you can catch that too, will be an interesting exercise if you have time. You have Kamal hassan playing the lead role, set in southern Tamil Nadu.

Just react to Dishyam 2 now When this movie remade in other languages, the Directors improved a lot of technical things obviously (Bigger budget, better market). But for me Original is always Original. As someone who knows Malayalam, Hindi, Tamil and Telgu languages well, I think that naturalistic atmosphere and freshness from Malayalam Original Drishyam' will be always on a different level when it compares to remakes. Another factor of course Mohan lal's acting. Ajay is one my favourite actors in Bollywood but when it comes to natural acting only a handful of actors in India can match with Mohan Lal. There is no debate about this. All praises goes to brilliance of Jeethu Joseph though.
