Probably the clearest tutorial on this on KZbin. Amazing how much power a RTR servo makes on 3s.

I like the Palomar knot for attaching winch hooks. It puts two wraps of line through the eye...less likely to break the line off at the hook. I also go overkill and use 300 lb braided fishing line.

9imod reciever powered servos are very good for making the non esc controlled servo winches. The potentiometer shaft is plastic, so dead easy to snip it off and fix the potentiometer in the neutral position. Can then be assigned a 3 position switch. There's no limit pin to cut off either, so they'll do full rotations once modified

The power difference when using an ESC (particularly on 3S) is... significant.

Spyder wire is the fishing line you were talking about. There is a specific knot used for that line. Look up the spyder wire knot on the TUBE. It’s super easy and holds.

Great video. I use the treble hook for most of my trail rigs as they can "stick" in to wood pretty easily. I also have been using some SpiderWire fishing line and some tippet rings so I can change hooks/ends easily. I also use a standard fishing knot to secure it all.
@synrene28 минут бұрын
Would that treble hook work for rocks then ? Sorry if it's a dumb question. But this is why I came to the comments

You can get some SORRCA scale points if you mount a scale-looking winch on the outside. The only drawback is you might have to spend $80-100 to get a really nice one 😆 I have a stack of hooks, I might be able to post a link in the discord.

if you glue the potentiometer in the centre position, you don't need an esc - just another way of doing it - its a bit finicky do do thou lol
@theweldingone5 сағат бұрын
and its easier if you use the potentiometer from a micro servo in a full size servo as it still fits in the case
@theweldingone5 сағат бұрын
difficult to fit back in the case thou

The benefit of using an ESC is the 3s speed and power.

i just bought a 360 degrees cheapo servo and plugged it into a channel on the receiver with bought spool kit thingy for mine, its not powerful i don't use it much, but its a cool thing to have on i mean it had the winch mounts, what i was supposed to do leave it empty?

Could one gut a servo but bypass 2nd esc and plug straight to receiver like normally with fusion set to 7.4v? Rigs all have DP servos
@FaithSaraG2 сағат бұрын
No, you need something to control the now stupid servo. It's just a motor and gearbox at this point.
@canadianyeti44112 сағат бұрын
@FaithSaraG even if set on a 3 position switch? Im still taking my 10yr old tactic apart before it gets bined lmao. I dont need a winch but also don't need all these oem servos

@@Bonitacreekrcs I can't believe you made me go back and look through my own videos for this. That's your job! :P I used a cutdown Element skid, so pretty much any 10.2 or Element skid will work.
