Yes it did. Not in the British Army but Chieftains were used by Kuwait against the Iraqi invasion. The British Army did not retire Chieftain from service until 1995, but did not deploy them to the Gulf War. Also the Cold War was concurrent to the First Gulf War and did not really end until later in the year.

Perhaps the Boston Pops needs to trade up. They only use a pair of 105mm guns for the 1812 overture. with blanks yet. I wonder what these Texas folks do for the Fourth? Depends on the round there only able to get solid ap shots because of laws and stuff but tanks on the battlefield do shoot stuff with explosives in it

In WW2, yes, almost every round a tank fired contained explosives. APHE, APHEBC, HEAT, HE, etc. Even their utility rounds like smoke and shrapnel contain explosives. However nowadays most tanks just fire APFSDS (Armour Piercing Fin Stabilised Discarding Sabot) rounds, which is basically a steel dart that travels at Mach 4 and above
