Good evening Steve. Well anyway it is evening now here in Norway. Thanks for your video. I have 2 1958 Detroit Diecast speakers that I want to restore to be bluetooth speakers for use at our veteran camping club meetings. If I may ask, what is the rating of the pot-meters you use? My speakers has pot's that is not possible to test...

Knut: Thanks for your message. I hope things in Norway are well for you. You asked about the pot-meter. I’m not skilled in electronics. I bought the potentiometer from Wolf Enterprises. They sell drive-in theater speaker parts online. I’m not sure what the potentiometers were rated for my build. I’m sure that Wolf Enterprises could provide you with that information. I’m sorry I can’t be of more help. Keep me posted on how your project is going. Wishing you the best. Steve

Cool video What Bluetooth device are you using?

Thanks for watching. The Bluetooth device I used is a Mini-X25 unit. I think I bought it on Amazon; I can’t remember. There are similar devices (probably made by the same company) on Amazon-Facmogu F900, Nobsound Mini, etc. They all run $30-$35. Hope this info is useful.

oldz70 Thanks for your interest in restoring drive-in speakers. Yours sounds like a worthwhile project. I’ll try to answer you’re questions the best I can. I will be up front, I’m no electronic wiz. That said, I’ll go over what I used. Some of these parts you could source at any electronic store, others items you might have to order. One online supplier of drive-in speaker parts is: driveinmfg.com/drive-in_theatre_parts Also: Detroit Die Cast Both sell speaker parts online. Parts you most likely will need include: * 4” speaker * Potentiometer (Volume control) * Speaker cords/cable (if I remember correctly, I bought mine from driveinmfg.com) * If you’re building a speaker post, you will probably need a speaker junction box terminal block. (driveinmfg.com has them. You might be able to source something similar at a electronic or hardware store) * If you want to set your speaker up to sync with your smartphone, you can order a Bluetooth receiver on Amazon. You might also be able to source one at an electronics store. Even Wal*Mart might have something that could work. * The last major component is a power source. If you’re doing this for home use then a power source might not be necessary. You can plug the Bluetooth receiver into the outlet. I use my drive-in speaker post set up as a prop when I take my car to car shows. I bought a rechargeable power bank that has a regular outlet and USB outlets. I can charge up the power bank and plug the Bluetooth receiver into it and play it at remote locations. I would suggest taking your speaker and my video to a local electronics store and see what they can help you with. Then what they don’t have you can order from the two vendors I mentioned above. Good luck with you project. I’d like to hear how it turns out.

@@stevecarter1302 thanks steve. i know roger at driveinmfg. i get my parking meter parts from him. regarding the speaker build, i'm very inclined to do this stuff, i just need to see and know what i need to do it. i found that receiver on amazon and it has everything needed like yours. as far as the battery pack, what does it look like and how does it connect to the speakers?

The battery pack I bought is a HP500S power station. They are about $100 on Amazon. Not cheap. But since the area I live in is prone to power outages, I can get double duty out of it. I connect the speakers to the Bluetooth receiver. I plug the receiver into the power pack. The power pack has an AC outlet on the end. It also has USP connections, too. If you use your phone for the music, you can keep your phone charged up by plugging it into the power pack as well using the USB.
