While the route remains the same. Back then it would have been the A1. Very little has changed. With the exception of the marked exit in the opening seconds of the video stating ‘Cramlington New Town’. It no longer says that and the trees and foliage have grown a bit since then at the same exit. Other than that only the cars really date the video. Gosforth shopping centre looks exactly the same. Great piece of tape

And that was the main way we went into the town before the western bypass was built. And there was only this or the Tyne Tunnel if you wanted to follow the A1 south.

It was confusing as most of the road signs in Newcastle still showed A1, but so did the Tyne Tunnel.

No western by pass then, what was the A1 continued into Newcastle on the Great North Rd. Also I can remember roads like Silver Lonnen and Denton Rd being a lot more congested as this was a western ring road round the city.

Gosforth isn’t as posh as it makes out to be, it neighbours Kingston park and fawdon which are quite deprived areas in parts. The high street, is very run down and dirty. Shields road high street, actually looks better kept
@hallgos73194 жыл бұрын
@@forza223bowe5 Gossy was better way back when a more respectable class of resident occupied the area.
