8:49 I believe the car on that trailer is the Lamborghini Essenza SCV12, a very rare track only lamborghini which there are only going to be built 40 of. And it's pretty expensive at around 2.5 million dollars aswell. Very cool find 😄

Nice to see the early routes and back roads. Last year there was a warning for the cold war ammunition's dump in the Blausee area was considered 'at risk'. Seems it had been emptied of redundant calibers but still contained very old but still viable sizes for existing weapons. And time and atmospheric conditions in the dump had made storage risky.

I've ridden this train several times in both directions. On one trip I created a personally TERRIFYING situation over, of all things, the key to my rental car.! While waiting on the train to depart Kandersteg I had an impulse to retrieve something from the hatchback of the car. Upon getting out of the car I DROPPED the key on the grating flooring of the car. It lay very precariously on the floor and even the slightest movement, even a vibration of some kind might have caused it to fall through down to the track. Needless to say bending over to pick it up made for a very tense and unforgettable moment. No telling what kind of mess I would been in had that happened.... YIKES!

Hello. As a train driver I can explain : every tunnel have safety features including emergency exit with automatic LED light but normally it’s shut off. The orange beacon are the safety light who whiteness the incoming train and allow the maintenance guy to hide in the multiple protective shelter that can be found every (maybe) 50 meters. For the “train” it’s a passenger coach with driving cabin that can remote the engine located at the opposite side of that shuttle train. The purpose of that coach is to give space and seats for passengers who don’t want to stay on their car and bikers. In order to minimize the connecting cables that have to run along the whole train (engine remote, pneumatic break) this coach is equipped with it own pantograph to catch power for aircon and heater. Sorry for the long answer : railways world is sometime complicated 😊
@ErikN1
@ErikN1 23 күн бұрын
@@cedricmarletaz780 So it's a control cab basically. I think it's the first one I've seen with a pantograph. When something looks like a passenger car and has a pantograph I usually associate it with maintenance trains unless it's a multiple unit configuration. Complicated but interesting world. Especially the signal systems.
@cedricmarletaz780
@cedricmarletaz780 23 күн бұрын
@@ErikN1it’s actually the same at 47m12 : every shuttle consist of engine-boarding platforms-roofed wagons-boarding platforms-control cab. Just the driver switch cabin, no other operations needed. Usually 30 minutes needed to fully unload and reload. Platforms are designed for efficient operation, just a guy will help the freaky driver to maximize the number of loaded cars.

Haha, yes, you might have to adhere to the speed limits in Switzerland.

It is connected to the main line, but most trains are driving through the new Lötschberg tunnel that opened in 2007.

The Lötschberg railway is one of the main north-south routes through the Swiss alps. It's so important that they even built a new 35km long base tunnel, which opened in 2007 (but the old line still sees a lot of traffic in addition to the auto trains).

very odd that both the people in the cars are allowed to stay in the car vs get in a passenger car, and also even more odd that there are no tiedown shackles for the cars themselves. Look at the Amtrak Autotrain. They have passengers drop off their cars then are loaded by trained personell. the passengers ride in sleeping cars for the trip and the cars are tied down so they cant move. Same with carrying cars by autorack on freight. they get tied down.

It is safe the way they do it. They operate these trains for over 60 years, without any major accident.
