Thanks for another illuminating vid Shane. Wouldn't purchase anything electrical from Secret Jardin anymore after their 20W Oscillating Monkey Fan almost burnt my house down! They do point out their design flaw with this model by telling you not to tilt the fan up/down beyond 15 degrees or it could result in damage to the fan but nothing about electrical arcing! Guess my protractor was off even though I observed the warning as best I could. When I reached out to them the reply was essentially, "talk to your retailer". Anyway...be warned...Secret Jardin don't do electrical appliances well.

Yip...3A I believe...that's the first thing I checked when I heard the snap, snap, snap sound coming from my tent and went in to investigate. Once I got it out of the tent and checked it in more detail I could see the arching on a piece of metal within the plastic housing which was part of the oscillation mechanism. The movements must have chaffed a wire close to this.

Another great video Shane! I bought a screw in, mogul US 110/120V 50WCOB(may be called 100W, lol) only $60 on eBay. Same on Amazon, but $90, not worth it! This was late last year, still working! I had to ask if there's a driver? "Yes, inside. LED's always need driver!". Probably like you showed, 80% efficient "hidden driver", like these. So they're not driverless, but cheaper drivers (much, lol, didn't think it'd last this long..), and I could probably put in a new generation Luminous chip? But still less efficient than my Meanwell drivers, which power 8-50W COB's, which I can always replace (cheaper Citizen CLU-?, last generations, not the newer ones you recently tested, could probably put in the new Luminous, as well (they're smaller than some others in size. Or upgrade to the better Citizens.. Have an HLG-65, and recently a Fissoning 120W(HLG-100 were out of stock. Same chips (301mb-?), maybe better Meanwell driver, I believe, plus 20 extra Watts, but $10 more, and another $10 for faster shipping. Came in a few days! BUT NO UPGRADING MULTIPLE CHIPS, MANY, MANY! MIGRO COB's ARE TOPS! ALWAYS UPGRADABLE COB's! Other, HLG, etc, you'd need a new board of chips.. Rambling on again! My bad! Long story short.. MIGRO ARE TOPS, ALWAYS UPGRADABLE!!!

I'm wondering about the use of units here. You're saying PPFD per Watt, but doesn't PPFD require a set space to give a density? Wouldn't it be just PPF?
@MIGROLIGHT5 жыл бұрын
PPF is the total PAR output of the bulb or fixture, PPFD is the quantity of PAR reaching the growing surface. For example a HPS bulb emits 1.9 PPF/Watt but when reflectance losses are considered the system efficiency is about 1.3 PPFD/Watt. It's a little like horsepower and brake horsepower i.e. a measurement of the useful output of the total system.

I can't tell you the exact measurements as I don't own a par meter or anything like that but, if you're referring to the one that's a single cob surrounded by a few other chips to add in the reds, uv's and blue I can tell you this: mine draws 92 watts at the wall and I measured that using a fluke true rms clamp ammeter to measure the amperage and a fluke DMM to get the exact voltage coming in and multiplied. Also I disconnected the fan to take those measurements. The removable optic is nice so you get a wider spread when needed. Honestly, the light is actually pretty nice in terms of quality and plants really do grow well under it. I started with LEDs awhile ago, my whole gripe is that after a certain amount of time(depending on quality how that time is affected), the lights will degrade not in just intensity but actual output. Also, most LEDs don't last as long as claimed by a majority of manufacturers or that actual wattage claims are exaggerated at best, and outright lied about at worst. I am not saying LEDs do not have potential, in fact I believe that one day they will become the standard, until then I feel the tech is not as far along yet.

@frankkrumnow71945 жыл бұрын
Hmm doesn't look too promising: 2500lm /17,5w = 143 lm/w ( where is that 325 coming from?). I thing the top full spectrum here will get over 190 lm/w (can only be applied for white only lamps I think). But if you have E27 fittings lieing around the price is interesting!
@Gameneuling25 жыл бұрын
@@frankkrumnow7194 well the 2500lm are with the thick plastic dome, and yeah it's 143 lm/w, BUT the LER (Luminous Efficacy of Radiation) is [lm/w]: 325,92 . If you remove the THICK plastic dome you get atleast 10% more light (atleast! its more like 15-20%) so let's say 160 lm/w thats 2800lumens for 8€! And dont forget the light distribution: you can hang them individually in height& position, so nearly no lightloss, even better light distribution than a Quantum board from led strips. Now the cost: 1 bulb + e27 fitting= 9€ (2800)lm! A migro 100 costs 269€ and is 115w) For this I get ~30 bulbs+fittings, which is 525W. Nuff said

I don't believe your method of testing is correct for the shape of the lights, therefore your calculations are also incorrect. These strip lights should be measured in a rectangular area given the shape and power of the units, and compared to the way they are intended to be used as multiples across a width. Most of them look to have built in reflectors which also regulates how 'wide' a footprint the light pattern disperses; not to the walls of your test area. Most of these type are also low wattage meant to be used closer to the canopy than a higher power cob or array, and I didn't see you do you normal set up for hanging height to realize 1000 PAR or whatever you often did in the past and other videos. Generally like your vids, but this one is as lacking as todays appearance. :)
