Drivers and Patterns of Biodiversity in Grasslands: From genomes to multispecies communities

Dear Professor Hersch-Green, My name is Adamu Abdullahi Abubakar from Nigeria. I will complete my Master’s in Ecology from the Key Laboratory of Eco-environments in the Three Gorges Reservoir Region, Southwest University, China by June 2025. I wish to apply for a PhD position in your lab for Fall 2025. I have spent the last two years working on climate change and its impact on the soil fauna. I assessed the soil faunal community in response to changing rainfall patterns, plant community, seasons, and soil layers. I became intrigued by the insect diversity aspect of your research. I am particularly interested in discovering how insect diversity and abundance are impacted within a broader a broader ecological disturbance. I could contribute to the ongoing work in your lab and introduce novel investigations on how functional traits, plant communities, and soil factors influence the adaptation of insect species under extreme weather conditions. I'm looking forward to contributing to your research team.
