Many years ago now as a little kid (Pre September 11), on two occasions I was invited into the drivers cab of a V/Line N Class as it terminated at south Geelong, went onto a different track and re-connected to the carriages at the other end. I got to control the throttle and toot the horn. It was epic. I can't imagine in today's world a kid would ever experience that moment now.

I thought I read somewhere a while ago that the line from Geelong to Waurns Pond was going to be duplicated, but the powers that be were uncertain how they could duplicate or add another line in parallel with or through another tunnel. I think Dan has a tunnel boring machine or 2 from the metro tunnel project that could do the job..

I have never seen the loco drivers view of the RRL corridor, only from V/Lo's. I happened to catch a truck from a company my dad worked with going through Tottenham. Seeing the citybound platform at Tarneit that empty compared to what I'm used to surprised me. I'm also surprised only one person in the comments mentioned the double headed N class with a H set in tow coming out of Wyndham Vale, certainly not a sight you see everyday. I'll miss these old girls when they're gone, I must go catch a N class again as living within the RRL the closest I get to them is them speeding through my stations. Perhaps one of the H set's to Bacchus Marsh, a N set as far as Geelong. Or maybe, just maybe, both. Great video as always.

Catch a locomotive hauled train while you can, that's probably a good idea. They will be here for a little while yet but time flies and they could be gone before you realise it. Glad you enjoyed the video 👍 😊

The vlocity units are from Geelong for the morning peak hour. Quite a few trains compared to the old days. Glad you enjoyed the ride 👍 😊

Quick Question. How long has that Deer Park to Manor section been there? Back in the day I was sure all trains going to Geelong went through Newport? We lived at Yarraville near the golf course and mum used to say - You'd know if Geelong won the footy by the enthusiastic whistle blowing on the "Geelong flyer" when it came through 😂😂😂My Pop worked at the Newport Workshops as a fitter and turner (William Alexander).

The Regional Rail Link from Deer Park to Manor was opened around 2015. Geelong trains now run via that line. The original route is still open but does not see a lot of traffic now. The Newport Workshops is closed now apart from the wheel lathe and heritage groups. Very different to when your pop worked there. 👍😄

55.07 then those tracks become dual & there’s still a loop running somewhere at that time as well! Are they the grain tracks where they load wheat or something? Then you’ve got the yards there & on the left hand side there’s still more tracks going where?

At that point where they go under is the grain loop for unloading grain trains off to the left. 👍😊

About 52 mins in near corio there’s a line going somewhere and then when you’re 53 mins into this vid, there’s more lines going anywhere & everywhere where do they all go too pls? Not the sG lines! 54.21 there’s a loop going somewhere dual gauge there!
