It's amazing to think that this line was surveyed to continue all the way to Nornalup where it was to join the line from there via Denmark to Albany.

I think the route was a little to tortuous and costly so only made it to Northcliffe. 🤔👍😄

That brought back memories. When I lived in Perth, Pemberton was a great long weekend getaway with a young family. The previous Tramway owner also had a WAGR V class 2-8-2 that was operated on the (now removed) rail line north out of Pemberton, I was lucky enough to get a "driver's experience" on it as a birthday gift from my wife, 20+ years ago. From what I can gather, that engine is now mothballed out of public view, hopefully not rusting away.

I'm not sure what happened to the loco but there are no plans for anything more than the trams as far as I know. The new owner does seem to be taking the future of the railway seriously though. I think the Pemberton tram has a good future. The rail line north of Pemberton is closed but the rails are still in place, just growing a lot of trees down the line. 👍😀

i had a go at climbing that tree in 1984. i was about 10 metres off the ground and 2 stakes next to each other were missing. i could see a lot more missing up above. i turned back. because i piked out in 1984, i had a go in 1987. there were still stakes missing but not 2 together. i did it and all the short time i was at the top i pondered if search and rescue would send a helicopter to pick me off the top. not likely. i went down the usual way. it was the scariest thing i have ever done in my life and i wouldnt do it again for any amount of money less than a million dollars. they have since installed some safety caging around the climbing stakes but not good enough for me. i think its now closed to the public.
