Pros and cons of the new roundabout. Pros-Michigan left turn is gone for good. Cons-the new roundabout, watching for other cars and that roundabout gives me or another driver the chills.
@bg13792 күн бұрын
In fairness, these lane markings, including lazy half-removed lines, are a mess. Two lanes on every approach, especially for a roundabout that's new to a community, is a recipe for these kinds of headlines.

It's crazy how so many grown adults here in North America can't grasp the very simple concept of giving way.
@johannesswillery7855Күн бұрын
I first experienced roundabouts in 1996 in England. I couldn't believe you could drive for hours through a city and never stop your vehicle. They have been in place there for many decades and their drivers are used to them. On my first try however, it really was quite simple.

Everyone needs to thank the city engineer for making the roads new and improved....and more expensive. How is it engineers always screw these things up?

If you can't drive on a roundabout than perhaps you shouldn't be driving.
@LSqreКүн бұрын
that's the problem with America: for most people, there are no alternatives to driving. So, if licenses weren't super easy to get, then a significant portion of the population simply would not be allowed to participate in society whatsoever.
@bearing_aficionadoКүн бұрын
@LSqre good. Because believe me, there are people out there that are just too damn stupid to participate in society.

I can't control what other drivers do. I got cut off in a roundabout by a driver that made an abrupt left turn from the right lane. I don't know how it didn't cause an accident.

I can beleive that. Here in the Milwaukee area they have done a number of roundabouts at intersections that were just fine beforehand.
@hueyav8rКүн бұрын
There was no reason to change the previous intersection. But Fishers wants to be just like Carmel and turn everything into round about.
@bearing_aficionadoКүн бұрын
@hueyav8r that intersection was a freaking mess. My wife grew up down the street from there and even back 20 years ago when we first met, that intersection was terrible.
@douglaswulff6441Күн бұрын
Roundabouts are increasing risks because there are still alot of impatient drivers who continue to cut their way through instead of yielding!
@MrXingor16 сағат бұрын
I don't think it's increasing. Those people who are impatient just run red lights and cause wrecks that way.

Never thought roundabouts were a good idea. Some people can barely drive on a regular street. I've seen quite a few near miss accidents on roundabouts. 🙁

1:32 another thing… people are driving efin pavement princess vehicles… and still crashing in the wet pavement. Vehicle size, and whole host of issues are why driving sucks
@bearing_aficionadoКүн бұрын
@Emanuel_carey so should everyone just drive POS vehicles just to satisfy your inability to drive a roundabout?
@danieldevadas6481Күн бұрын
@@bearing_aficionado people should 100% be restricted in the size of their vehicles, or require a different license for larger vehicles. People that drive an F150 shouldn't have the same licensing requirements as a Miata owner
@bearing_aficionadoКүн бұрын
@danieldevadas6481 ummm....I drive an F150 and my plates are different than a Miata
@bearing_aficionadoКүн бұрын
@danieldevadas6481 also why shouldn't we have the same requirements? What exactly are you talking about? If you drive a Miata, perhaps you have other issues to worry about rather than other people's "licensing requirements." Just because I choose to drive a truck and not a car is not my problem. I'll drive what I can afford to drive and pay for. Thats not your concern or anyone else's. Also, my plates cost more than a Miata anyway and my truck is over 15 years old.😂
@danieldevadas648111 сағат бұрын
@@bearing_aficionado my point is traffic laws are largely based on risks of collisions, weighted by the consequences of a certain set of collisions. "Pavement princess" trucks carry more momentum, have hoods at chest-level, and are thus inherently more dangerous to everything around them. People should be reasonably free to drive what they want, but there's no reason a vehicle that is an order of magnitude more likely to kill someone else to be as easy to license for, for non-business purposes. Posers are useless is all I'm saying.

Roundabouts are trash… people stop, when it’s not needed. Better public transit is an answer, and respectable bike lanes.. but we blow the budget on highways; one more lane, one less house. I could say a lot. But that’d get me flagged, because of sensitives.

Round about don't work when traffic is heavy. They are too confusing if they have multiple lanes. I think the number of crash says it all. Tear it out and start over.

I am one that does not like the round abouts, especially the double lane. Now if they would only give a driver's license to those that know how to drive it may be better. I think we have many road planners that do not have the slightest ideas as to what they are doing.
