Played a 3 player with my wife and daughter (12) and a 4 with my group last week. I like it a lot. It went over well. Both times the person who built the biggest engine lost by not focusing on acquiring points, but rather playing cards. This is a subtler game than it looks like at first glance, while not as opaque as Agricola. The first play will be a bit overwhelming, however, so be prepared for it to be slow while everyone figures out what's going on. The cards make the game.

Played it today. Warning: make sure the TEXT on the main trunk is facing toward the table, or else you have to peek around the tree every time. Also before playing, REINFORCE the split parts that hold the horizontal foliage. Finally, put the accompanying ziplock under the twigs so to avoid having to pick them off the ground all the time.

The mechanics were really satisfying -- I love tableau builders -- my one complaint is the board, actually. It's too cute by half. I would've preferred just a board with spots for the action spaces, and no "ever tree." We don't put the draw pile in the tree because it's too easy to knock it. Also, the resources and tree tend to obscure the four standard events. Fun game, but I wish the board had just a little more attention to detail for the actual gameplay.

Seems like there is a ton of "luck of the draw" in this game .. for example of u are randomly drawing the heavy cost stuff conpared to a guy drawing green buildings or not drawing ur combo cards ..... what can u do ? Its deus without the hand redraw mechanism

Johnny Palumbo Remember you can also draw right from the meadow which is in constant turn as others draw from it as well.

I actually backed for $1, but then ended up passing-not because It's a bad game, or because I don't like the extra 'frills'-it's just that I felt like I could wait for retail on this one.
