A shame the media seeded a rift between Fred and his wife. Take a look at the old "documentaries" about Fred uploaded here on KZbin, the commenters there who actually knew the Dibnah's said she and everyone else was fine with his steam obsession and old school life-style until the ones making the documentaries walked up to her and went "hey you know this isnt normal, right?" just to make her think about outward appearances and react more dramatically when, at the time, he was making room on his property for another project, effectively destroying the family (she divorced him). He limited his exposure to media from then on.
