It speaks volumes that you didn’t edit out that the concrete popped. It saved me from doing that same thing. Thank you.

GUYS AND GALS!!!! I just figured it out!! So after watching this video and the other video on using acetone, I tried them both individually and they both work pretty well and definitely better than anything else I’ve tried. This time though I had a really big and stubborn oil stain so I decided I was probably going to need to employ both methods on this one. I started with the torch and got it just hot enough to where the oil started to smoke and evaporate a little bit. I then stopped because I was afraid of cracking the concrete and immediately after setting the torch down I poured some acetone onto the still hot oily concrete and IT INSTANTLY DISAPPEARED!!! No insane amount of scrubbing. Just easy heat and poor and it’s completely gone. Please tag my name with any comments about your experience when trying this method and tell me how well it did or didn’t work for you! God bless!!

Don't think you set the torch right and you got too close. A little more distance and taking your time a bit more would have had a better outcome.

I have a similar unit.. there is not setting on them.. when flame are coming out, you need to restart it. You know you got right when they sound like a jet engine. I call mine the big Bertha… great for wood staining too

Just tried it and it worked for me too on concrete driveway. All but one completely disappeared. The one spot was from an old tenant whose old car leaked oil like crazy for years in one spot. Even that one was reduced by about 50% though. One thought - I used a roofing torch and had my welding helmet on. Glad I did because in the spot where there was some spaulding, a few small pieces of aggregate in the concrete popped and the helmet protected me (as you said it might, thank you).

Would this work with a heat gun you think? Or is it specifically propane torch that will do this? A heat gun gives off similar levels of heat but cleaner because theres no gas involved.... Would love to know your thoughts. Ty

If it is hot enough to burn a thin layer of oil then yes I would imagine that it would work. Might even work better than a flame if it doesn't make the concrete as hot because as you saw if the concrete gets too hot it will pop. Also I don't know where you live in the world but if it's cold where you are like it is where I am right now take that into consideration before heating. If you try it please report back here and let me know!

Acetone AND heat makes sense. Warm the oil to loosen add solvent to release and wash away. Worth a shot

@@soyourwifewantsyouto yup just let it soak about 20 minutes at full strength then lightly mist with water till saturated then scrub with a brush till sudsy then let sit till you start seeing the oil bubble to the surface it will also pull up rust and dirt then hose of with a pressure washer or soak up with floor dry depending on local laws for drainage

Yeah, they use a flame to break the surface of hard surfaces like granite. It’s a finish selection you can get.. this is common knowledge.
