I was raised in South Florida and heard them for the first time when they opened for REM in Miami. No one there knew who they were and neither did I. As soon as they started playing I knew I was watching something special. Most of the people there were not even interested. I couldn't believe people were ignoring them. I was like are you people crazy? Dont you hear that sound? Almost 40 years later and I live in Georgia now, and they are still one of the greatest underated bands ever.
@kevingthompson144 жыл бұрын
These guys are not unknown among artists. They have been very involved among the actual artist bands like ZEBRA from New Orleans. Even bigger maybe was they led the fight and raided funds to get GREAT WHITE released from jail with the charges dropped because the band itself was not responsible for that horrific fire event where people died in South Carolina. There was an event where the band's equipment trailer was stolen and you would not believe the mega guys & gals that all DONATED EQUIPMENT so they ended up 100 times better then when they started. This song particular is 1 of the greatest rock anthems of all time hands down. Hell in 87 we were blowing up 100 amp speakers over this stuff.

Auburn; 1990; riding to the supper club, AKA "Stupid Club" to see this band live. I remember the cold clear night with a silver moon overhead, drinking Michelob till I couldn't feel my toes. My friend at the wheel with not a care in the world. I rolled down the window and savored the smell of the moment before arriving at the concert; a windy blur now, but the smell of youth and promise stays with me. Flash back to the present in San Fransisco and some of the despair I witness on the streets and realize.... this song and that concert resonates to southerners and anyone else longing for home and a better place. Not only are they one of favorites, they're (as often stated) criminally underrated. I would have paid top dollar to have seen them share a show with another one of my favorites which were also criminally underrated - Savatage. Two sperate genre's and styles, but that (at least to me) woulda been one kick ass show. Jon Oliva and Kevin Kinney were both incredible song writers who could touch your life with their lyrics. Drivin N Cryin, Savatage, and Concrete Blonde's Bloodletting all got me through Desert Shield/Desert Storm.

@@fishboy3179 seeing DNC and Screamin Cheetah Wheelies this summer at the Caverns festival. Should be one hell of a show!! Can’t fucking wait to see both live. SCW is the best band of all time and DNC hopefully will be at the top! DNC has already gained a new fan!

Saw DnC many times first time was at Georgia Southern in 88'. A kid across the hall went to high school with them and got us in for free. I was hooked forever. I have seen them many times since. Saw them in like 95' At Dover AFB they opened for Skynyrd. I have run into Kevin Kenny several times at the Windjammer in Isle of Palms here in SC. Kick Ass band that was born in the times of hair spray and spandex. To my knowledge they never wore any, thank you DnC for being true to the music.

Was at university of ga in late 80s and early 90s. REM , drivin and cryin and the Connells . Great times. Saw Jesus and Mary chain and nine inch nails at ga theatre as a freshman. What a show!

Went to college in the mid 90s in the Northeast but holy heck, Connells, REM, Drivin n Cryin, NIN, JaMC, etc... throw in some local boys called Dinosaur Jr and some Pixies and that was our years/stereos/inspirations for starting bands.

This band brings back so many memories as I drove all over the state of Florida for work. It was a sad time for me and things weren't going well...... this band made me feel better, it was something I could enjoy and I did. Gezzz that was 1990 1994...... time flies when we're alive. (I'm doing much better now.)

Kevn played this, at my personal request, for my 27th birthday in Tuscaloosa Alabama. He visited with me and my friends in between sets and asked what we wanted to hear. Honeysuckle Blue and Scarred but Smarter is what I requested. He opened the next set with both!

I saw Drivin N Cryin at The Music Farm in Charleston back in the late 1990's. This number and Fly Me Courageous were the highlights of a great set. These guys really could put on a show!!
