Driving a FIAT Millecento (1100) 1958

For sale...
Sporty little 4 door sedan.
8v, 50hp, 4 speed.
This car has the later engine in it.
Got diagonal tyers on, not nice.

great drive, seemed very smooth surprisingly quiet, no rattles or lots of wind noise, and able to keep up with much of the modern traffic. I assume the brakes are the key issue driving in modern traffic, gearbox looked to work well. Overall the car seems to have survived the northern European winters well.

@@TheDiskins Italian cars of that period were technically quite advanced and very well engineered. Trouble was that they had a tendency to rust. Especially in wet and cold regions.

I bought one very cheap in Munich in the late sixties. The entire front was thick with bondo from an accident. So I took the streetcar to the Fiat dealer, purchased the entire front section and took it home on the streetcar with people giving me strange looks, after all I was holding "the face" of an 1100. Replaced it, painted the car with a spray can. They were very good cars, but I think Fiat lied about the power. It really became breathless in Munich traffic and did not have the speed I desired. So I sold it.

I just sat an happily watched from start to finish. I have a Fiat 1100 D, right hand drive. Having the new oil filter setup is good! I just can't find the old bypass filter.

It's a fun car :) The engine in this car must have been swapped. Back in the days they did this more often than they do these days.

Kjell Kriminell It is a fun car for sure! And the signature sound when taking off in first gear with those straight shorn gears is so enjoyable. I'm changing the oil possibly tomorrow and have to go ahead and reuse the old oil filter, rather have new oil and an old filter than old oil and an old filter. 😄

Une excellente voiture, robuste et fiable ! Les pays de l'Est - l'URSS et la Pologne en particulier - ne s'y était pas trompé ! Avec la 600, cette 1100 fut parmi les premières "Shiguli-Vaz" (=Lada) ou "Polski-Fiat".
