We usually have a drought for one year, floods the next, droughts the next, etc. Yeah rain is something you love out here. @@emilysandrini896 I was wondering the same thing, went all the way to Albuquerque and then went back north thru CO. They must be going to the panhandle but there is a shorter route for sure thru Pagosa Springs and Pueblo. That midnight snowstorm drive across the Res must have been terrifying - we had a very similar experience about 30 years ago when we moved from Phoenix on New Years day. Freezing cold, snowing, midnight on the res and the low altitude setting on the carburetor on my "boyfriends" truck was not working well - seriously thought we were going to freeze to death because the truck was getting like 3 miles to the gallon pulling a heavy uhaul trailer and not a gas station for miles. Absolutely terrifying!!!

I have done so many of those drives! I love road tripping, and listening to your discussions. Cara and Kara are totally different names, and when I lived in Albuquerque, I had friends with those names. My BIL lived in Moab for years. I just did almost this exact drive earlier this year. Glad you made it safe!

As someone who had to do a similar moving roadtrip from Chicago to Phoenix and had to stop for the night in Albuquerque, can confirm that New Mexico is a VERY different state, somehow stranger than any other. I felt like Rod Serling was going to pop out at any moment and deliver his Twilight Zone monologue.

You're not wrong about Moab. My sister-in-law lived there, it's basically a tourist town for whitewater rafting, and, I think, skiing. You'll also find heavy weather is pretty standard for Texas. Only place I've ever been where hail is measured in sporting equipment. Golf ball. Baseball. Softball.

Whitewater rafting, hiking, mountain biking, off-roading, camping, BASE jumping, rock climbing, rappelling, 2 national parks (Arches National Park and Canyonlands National Park), Dead Horse State Park, etc. Not really any skiing other than a little bit of cross country skiing… snow usually melts too quick near town, and no ski resorts in the La Sal mountains. I’m from Moab originally.

@@dezie. - you guys get lake-effect snow, which is pretty fierce. But you miss out on the hurricanes and wildfires, so I'd still rate Texas as nastier. Oh, and the oppressive heat. AC isn't optional in Texas.

Kris, the things that were on the semi trucks were for wind turbines. They are all over Texas and other parts of the states. Its really cool getting to see them up close like that so you can see how big they actually are. Goad y'all made it to Texas safely. I know that you have been here for almost a week, but welcome to the US and Texas. We're glad to have you join us 😀
