Can anyone recommend websites or auctions where I can find used and modified car joysticks? I'm looking for some good deals. Thanks!

Hi! Wanted to know how it has been going using the Joysteer equipment? Have you run into any malfunctions? If you continue to use the same equipment, how often are the software updates required and who and/or where to you take your van to do this? Thanks!

Hi, do you have any tips how to feel safe driving faster? It feels so sensitive. I have the same Joysteer system, bought it used and have no service for it in my country. Do you keep all your hand weight on joystick, or just touch softly and keep most of your hand weight on armrest? Also I feel that it's risky when I press brakes, cause I turn wheel a little bit and I don't want that on fast speed :D How long does it took for you to get use to it, particularly to drive 60 or more miles per hour? Right now after practicing for more than 10 hours I feel ok only at 30 miles per hour

I got my driver's license from a high-tech training program here in Michigan. I used voice activation for gear shifting, a jelly bean button positioned near my head for turning signals, a gas/brake joystick and a steering joystick.

hello, allow me a question: at minute 2.36 I see a system of containment of the tires in the floor that allow the lowering of the wheelchair by a few centimeters; may I ask you where did you find this system?
@wheelingonward1366

Hi Gennaro, the system is called EZ-Lock and it's a well known system for locking a wheelchair in place. Any adaptive mobility company should be able to discuss with you. It is a fixed system though and does not go up or down. The wheelchair has a tilt system built in for weight shifting. This maybe what your noticing.

I'm right in the middle of choosing what kind of hand controls I will need in my van and really liked this setup you have but I have heard that it's hard to drive and it's very touchy.. I would really like to know how you feel about your set up.. They keep saying I should have steering on the right side with the gas and brake on the left side but I don't quite trust my left arm like I do my right.. I'm a C5 quad and could really use your advice as soon as you see this because they are trying to do my driving evaluation now.. Thank you so much!

Hi Brittany, they tried to get need to drive with dual and controls but like you I do not trust my left arm as much as my right so I insisted using the four way joystick. I had to insist pretty hard in order to try that system as it is very sensitive but like anything the more you practice the easier it becomes!

The van ramp modification, hand control system and secondary controls cost about $80k including install but your local vocational specialist might be able to assist with purchasing.

In the US depending on the state you live in, Vocational rehab will pay for the van ramp and hand control modification if you are working or trying to work. You need to provide the vehicle. If you were to pay for everything out of pocket you'd be looking at roughly $100k. ($20k Van, $25k ramp mod, $35k hand control, $20k secondary control system)
