The art of driving steam locomotives, this is the one thing most people would love to do alongside firing steam engines. Alongside teaching new volunteers and members of the public how to drive steam engines. Clive even shows off his driving skills on a steam engine. He explains that people who drive steam engines need to know exactly where they are and that they know exactly what can be expected to happen.

As I personally stated before by 1/2 a year prior, the locomotive featured in the beginning of this official video showing the art of driving a steam-driven railway locomotive certainly does apparently happens to be very shockingly surprisingly noticably locomotive #9017 certainly happens to be just 1 of the steam-driven railway locomotives in the officially well-knowingly obviously obvious Great Britain section of my own official DVD that's basically titled The Best of World Steam with narration by Peter Fairhead himself!

Thanks, Clive, reminds me of my firing days at 70A and later, Basingstoke in the 1960s. I'm now in West Oz and frequently correspond with one of your other firemen, Robbie Lee, who's here also. A nice trip down memory lane.

I've especially wanted to mention that I personally saw this very same steam-driven railway tender locomotive known as by the number 9017 throughout the opening montage of 1 of the sections in 1 of the movies by TELERAIL in my collection of movies on DVD titled the Best of World Steam that'd been narrated by Peter Fairhead who kindly gave lots of different types of information 'bout each of the steam-driven railway locomotives!

What an interesting and amazing man Clive is ... his deep experience and knowledge often quite surprising as well. Some of the anecdotes often quite funny. He paints the picture in well chosen phrase that the layman can understand but at the same time educates and advises ... very enjoyable video indeed. And of course hats off to Clive's daughters too who clearly know their stuff ... but after all, they have a clever dad. Great video

Oh no. It is a dirty and hard work, and not meant for women. A woman can do it as a hobby dedicating to it some of her time in some periods of her life - but she should not get it as her job.

Those brake blocks are very thin they should of been changed . Most brake blocks on a railway vehicle have ware indicators on them , little semi circular patterns . That’s how you know when to change them.

Mr Groome mentioned his experience on a Q1 freight engine and how the fire would not produce sufficient heat. He said that it often comes to your mind to pray when in such difficulties but it never did any good for him and he knows for he had prayed often. What Mr Groome fails to understand is that God often answers prayer by imparting wisdom and so out of His abundant goodness God perhaps gave Mr Groome the wisdom to know how to manage the fire to keep the train running...and so did indeed answer His prayer. To expect a miracle in answer to prayer, as implied by Mr Groome, borders on fanaticism and is certainly not the way of walking with God as instructed and spoken of in the Bible. For the Bible is the book to help man understand the mind of God and discover the truth about God, rather than for man to invent a God of their own imagination, which is so often the case these days, who they then perceive fails to answer their prayer; because it was based on a lie about God. God can and does bring about the impossible in answer to prayer but not when there are ordinary means to solve a difficulty, then God kindly and liberally gives man wisdom to solve the difficulty by the means at hand, such as putting a little bit of coal in the right place at the right time. To understand this more, please see James chapter 1, verses 5 to 8, noting that God will only answer your prayers if you believe with your heart that God will give you wisdom and so having faith in God to do so when asked. One vital fact underpinning all of this is the truth that God offers such daily assistance to those that have repented and believed in Christ and His work of redemption on the cross and so have become a child of God. For God promises that those who give their hearts to God will observe His perfect ways (Proverbs 23.26) and so experience the daily joy of walking with the living God.

Such a shame that the audio cuts out at 37:40 spoiling the last 3 minutes approx ☹️ "And whistle... whistle.... whistle... whistle..." "Pheep!" You can tell he's processing so many new things that his brain is cutting out extraneous input. I can remember learning to drive a car & at first a passenger could talk to me and I simply wouldn't hear them! Just like the whistle incident here. The thing I noticed was the guy teaching him didn't get louder with each "Whistle...". A lesser instructor would've been shouting by the fourth "Whistle..." but this chap understood why he hadn't heard him and knew that eventually the student would hear him when there was "space in the queue". A sign of a good teacher, I thought. Edit; Is that Fireman called "Bob" perchance? 😆 🚂🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃

Apologies for that but there was copyright issues with regard to some of the music, as for the bit at the end of the video it was only music you could hear so there was no soundtrack of the steam locos. Nothing to worry about.
