Why is it that our people do not associate development with availability of social amenities such as reticulated pipe borne water supply to homes, houses and flats, steady power supply, absence of refuse dumps, streets and roads without liters, clean and green environment, safe neighbourhood, industries for employment, functional hospitals and qualitative schools? Why must we associate development with night clubs, red light districts, canteens, restaurants, exorbitant costs of lands and buildings, noise and animalistic behaviours? Terrible!!!!!

By "Development", we mean PRESENCE of Facilities that make a Metropolis........which includes all that you mentioned PLUS Large Population ( I mean if a Town has all those but very few people live in that Town for some reason, that Town will NOT be KNOWN as a Metropolis ( Developed Town ). There is something I don't like about my country, the development. It is so annoying to the eyes. It can easily hurt ones eyes when looking at the red earth, dusty and potholed roads. I don't know if we sit down and reason like prehistoric people. There is no single good development that is advanced in Nigeria. That is a big shame. Everywhere is so dirty and dusty. Also not safe. The reason it is called a city is based on a specific stated characteristics not exactly what you personally think . In some countries places with 15,000 persons are called cities, in some places even with bad infrastructure or whatever you think still get the recognition. Once you drive off the expressway, Awka is an eyesore 🤦🏾‍♂️ Unfortunately it has been utterly incapable of transforming from a provincial town to a capital city. Awka has 3 beautiful city flyovers, no state in east can boast such except Ebonyi . Awka has the best international convention centre in Nigeria. Has beautiful well laid out planned estates. There's other major thoroughfares like EBD boulevard, Esther Obiakor roads, TCN boulevard leading to Awka Millennium city which is the best precinct in igboland. Anambra is generally the most developed state in igboland. I was in enugu recently it is an eyesore, Owerri is a mess littered bad roads and filthy environment, you can hardly differentiate it from Aba .

Okay, so I'm not a troll or a hater, but this is going to sound harsh because I think it's better to be slapped by the truth than it is to be kissed by a lie. As I look at these videos of these different cities and read the comments, it has become painfully evident that your leaders have SCREWED you people so much with at best mediocrity and at worst, utterly inept, dismal leadership that Igbo people living in the southeast part of the country have LITTLE to no clue of what excellence is. In the 21st effing century, in a state that calls itself "The Light of the Nation," the capital city is a TOTAL PIECE OF SH*T CITY as evidenced in the video but people here are salivating in their comments on how nice this city is. ARE YOU SERIOUS???!!!! Now, I believe it's great and noble to be grateful for what you have in the light of taking what you have and building on it, but this isn't gratefulness I'm seeing expressed here, instead I'm seeing comments that clearly depict people whose minds have been so numbed by ineptitude, blight and underdevelopment that the bar is set so low for what is acceptable. For those of you who think this city is great, I implore you to go on Google and look up images of Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Dubai, Seoul and other places that were more poor than Nigeria back in the 60s, or buy a damn plane ticket and go and visit some of these places to get an idea of how much your leaders are screwing over to the extent that your jumping up and down over a pittance of a city. YOU the Igbos, who are known as the "Jews of Nigeria" for your diligence, business acumen, pecuniary shrewdness, and your entrepreneurial skills, who go and dominate any area they step into outside their homeland, and who, when Biafra had existed, had technically become probably the most advanced Black nation on the planet through your own creation of indigenous technology to prosecute a war that you were only expected to last in for 6 weeks, IS THIS THE EFFING BEST YOU CAN DO???? People were saying the same damn thing when the military was in power about what would happen if civilians come to power yet, 20+ years later, this is still total sh*t. Let me tell you something, elevation comes to those who make the best at the station where they're at not to those who say, "Well, when I get there then I'll do something." In other words, that person who pursues excellence where he's at right now will go further than that person who says, "I will pursue excellence when _____________ happens." If Biafra were to become an actuality, with the current mindset of the Igbos, it won't amount to sh*t with the prevailing sense of complacency, low expectations and lack of vision from the people as again evidenced at the current state of things. What's even more sad is that if someone comes around wanting to transform the state, people who can't see beyond their nose may likely try to kill him because they think he's interfering with the money they making rom the dysfunctional way things are right now.
