Onitsha needs serious urban renewal. It has the big city vibe but is very chaotic. There is no effective city govt to regulate traffic, maintain roads and restrict street trading. I do not know when that will happen but it is quite needed. Thanks for the video.

this is so true, I have experience this in Europe, and coming from Nigeria, I always even think I need to apologise to the vehicle drivers but they are the one more worried about my safety, because the pedestrian is the more vulnerable. Nigeria is a damn zoo for real.

The highway is superb, no doubt. But i have problems with why such an expensive road should be without greenery. The original artist impression of the Highway shows a Highway with ornamental plants on both sides, making the road look majestically beautiful. Why can't they accomplish that dream. This is the gateway to the East from the west end of Nigeria.

I am from Kwale (anioma), my late father was a wise bussiness man who lived all his entire life in this Onitsha. We his 9 children were all born here. Everyone knew him then as "papa onitsha". He was uneducated (only primary 3) but 7 of his children are graduates. Ukwuani igbo language and eastern igbo extremely resemble each other, also in dressings, all festivals and culture, so you dont need to learn anything. But some of our ukwuani pronounciations are twisted. Or should i say some eastern igbo pronounciations are the ones twisted? In weekends, whenever he travels to kwale to attend communal meetings, his fellow chiefs will be laughing and mocking him for his critical "igbo man sence". Most times, at home he also forgets and communicates with us with the eastern igbo accent, then we and my mother will be mocking him. He left us in 2016 at 93 yrs, we all travelled back home to bury him. Watching this Onitsha video brings back all his good memories. The great wise Ajieh of ukwuani, may you continue to Rip!

This is a great idea to show Onitsha on KZbin. To better improve the educative value of future videos, I will make some general remarks. Although seldom comment on KZbin but on Onitsha I can't afford to keep quiet. I was 8 when I started riding the bus from Ogidi to attend schools in Onitsha for 8 years. . I'm happy to see the town again. Onitsha is such an energetic city. But, I think you scarcely know the town. Especially Awka road. Awka Road is full of history from end to end. For instance You missed some of the important landmarks and streams. The streets leading to about 3 high schools (Washington, Prince, New Era) were not mentioned. You even skipped some of schools on right Awka Road itself like Ado Girls, Premier School, Eze Chima PS which you mistook for St Charles, There's GTC.... The Guinness Eye Hospital. The greatest miss of all was the All Saints Cathedral. How on earth did you miss that? I expected you to point out Oguta Road which takes you back to Upper Iweka. If you research about Awka Road alone, you gonna make a more engaging video. Overall, Onitsha is still largely a neglected city! Pedestrians safety is very poor. Even you guys nearly run over a pedestrian. The streets are unmarked with folks dashing across 6 lanes. Awka Road is overdue for dualization. I counted about 3 pedestrian bridges in such a densely populated city. Public transportation is still chaotic. Since many people connect with their schools, consider doing a video about the big schools in Onitsha.

I appreciate this video very much but it kind of annoyed as well, the subtitle keep flicking off and on, which keep blanking off the views your trying to show us. It would have been so much better without the blinking.

Sometimes! I am so confused! Especially on social media, there are people agitating for biafra! Quite often such “ agitators” are rather hostile and vitriolic in their bid for secession! But increasingly, ( and thanks to social media vloggers) I have seen Onitsha, Owerri, Enugu, Abakaliki , Akwa and others…. and they are just like any other cities in Nigeria ! These are all functioning and thriving cities and towns ! They are just as boisterous, noisy and chaotic as anywhere else in the old country! I don’t see any great or major distinctions in the South east cities! Nigerian cities all share the same open gutters syndrome, they all have Kekes and Okadas and rickety buses and taxis! They all share the terrible driving and cohesion! I had credited the biafran agitations to endemic poverty and lack of infrastructures! Now let me be CLEAR!! Onitsha needs greater infrastructural development big time!! But so does Lagos, Abuja, Ibadan ( serious one) Port Harcourt, Calabar and Uyo ! The whole country needs to get a wriggle on! I am all for National restructuring! Whereby states control their own resources, ( and practice true federal fiscal revenue) build, own and control their state police ! Their own educational curriculum ! I pray so !
