Wow shit! 7:50 might of been my father🤔 Far as I remember there wasn't to many 1985 White Camaros with those stupid "La Bra" covers on the front bumper around. And my grandmother lived down around there and he always used to drive back home on that street. 👍👍

i can't watch this. i'll effing cry. sam the record man! when i was in young drivers, and we had to plan a drive, i planned a drive from sackville to sam the effing record man in downtown halifax to pick up a cd i'd ordered from that huge catalogue they had plopped on what looked like a pulpit. now it's all gone.

Thank you for posting this, it is amazing to look into the past. Like someone in the comments said, a time machine. Not a sight of construction anywhere...and to think that we had Dunkin Donuts in Canada back then? Beautiful footage!

thank you. I'll never get over my hometown. I was there, on Robie Street and Cunard at that time.

This video is between 1990-95. I'd say it's between 90-93 because that is the Moosehead Grand Prix if I'm not mistaken. The vehicles also show a lot of early 1990s models which I'm familiar with such as the Chevy Lumina that went from 1990 for about a decade. Good old video though. Pretty cool to see stuff I remember.

At the 9:30 mark, in this video, the white building, on the corner of Queen & Spring Garden was 1989. 1990 is when they started demolition, to rip it down. You are right about everything else. Thanks

@@hamiltonontkeith The footage is an amalgamation of a few years. The car is a Chevy Lumina, not released until 1990. I'd say that the video is covering a time span of a couple of years at the least. Very cool video though, with lots of memories :)

I've been here for all of my 62 years and we have lost a LOT. I used to like going to Sam The Record Man when it was on the lower floor of Bayers Road Shopping Center and to Kelly's Stereo Mart when it was on Barrington Street. Don't get me started on the death of Eaton's and the beautiful old Birks Jewellers store on Barrington. I could go on but won't.

I think I can hone down a date on this video. between 1990 - 1993. The last bit of the video shows the Moosehead Grand Prix and they're using an American Indycar Series format here. The Pizza Hut logo on the barricades is proof enough but I remember these races. This only existed between 90 and 93. I saw all the races from my friends nearby apartment and they just could NOT block the view. Free racing. The city considered going around to peoples homes and 'restrict' them from watching it or pay a fine. You can imagine that went over great, so people started renting out their apartments to people in areas the city couldn't block the view from and made a good profit from it. Never would have happened either if the city didn't try and tell people not to look unless they paid money.

Old post ,I know. but people have been asserting humans are living in the "last days" probably for thousands of years now. We are ,today , living in the best of times ever possible for humanity with technology, science and health care leading to massive increases in lifespans, well being and knowledge. People that view some sort of pathetic (usually religious based) end of times scenario seriously need to grow up and reside in reality. Please show even a tiny bit of evidence that a soul or Jesus are real and true. My view is that death is the big sleep where you just cease to exist and are not even aware of it.. There's no magical afterlife where you exist in some fashion forever after. If there was, then it makes this existence a completely foolish waste of time. A place where we wipe our feet killing time until the "real" life(according to damn near every stupid religion) begins. Childhood indoctinations and adult manipulations based on ignorance and fears should be a crime.

Halifax was very rough back then, you couldn't go out alone at night you might've got robbed or stabbed or something not good.. It has very much improved since, we still have issues but things are way better now
