Awesome neighborhood for food, drink, coffee, and bakeries! My favorite Pho place in Seattle is here. Ballard Locks and Golden Gardens also close by with excellent fish restaurants on the water.

As a new comer is it best to live in Ballard, Fremont, or cap hill? (Short term lease)

If you want to walk to downtown Seattle Capital Hill is the best place out of those 3. Ballard would be the cheapest since it is the farthest away and it has a ton of new apartments in the last few years. I like Ballard, it has a lot there and you are close to Golden Gardens Park and the water. Capital Hill is close to the most nightlife and restaurants, if you don't have a car it is also the most convenient for walking and taking mass transit. It really comes down to where you feel the safest, a lot more homeless downtown and in capital hill. We looked at downtown when we initially moved here and after seeing the $250 fee for each car a month to park it was not worth it to us plus the rent was sky high!
