Yes you have to. There's ticket stations to pay for parking like the one you can see on the left at 50:51

@@janetf3377 I think we used cash yeah, if I remember correctly it takes bills, coins and cards. Always a good idea to have the cash since some cards get declined or are not accepted at all. If you're going to be driving all over Portugal also make sure to have cash for the toll checkpoints, those didn't take any of our cards, we had to use cash only. Either bills or coins of course, both work.
