Driving from Shickshinny to Berwick, Pennsylvania

This trip goes southbound along US 11 with the Susquehanna River being to the left for the entire duration of the trip. At the point where the trip begins at the intersection of US 11 and PA 239, one would be approximately 18 miles from Wilkes Barre. This section of US 11 carries mostly local traffic now but prior to the opening of Interstate(s) 81 and 80 in approximately 1970, US 11 was the main highway connecting Harrisburg and South Central PA with Wilkes Barre and Scranton and Northeast PA. This trip was in Luzerne and Columbia Counties.
