How long does it take, from A to B? What if you do not have a "Mexico stay visa" (like you do)? Any word about safety concerns? What documents do you need to get your Canada's licensed vehicle into Mexico? etc.

Great video. I plan on driving down to Los Cabos in November from Edmonton. Any issues with regard to safety?

A thing I noticed years ago was that if you started at Oak Street and West 6th Avenue and didn’t take any exits or turn offs and followed the highway the whole way, you’d end up at a roundabout at the southern most tip of the Baja peninsula near Cabo San Lucas where you could then continue your journey back north and end up where you started. Thats why my friends call that intersection Mile Zero since is the start and end of a 6000 km drive that takes you nowhere.

Thanks for your inquiry and comments. We edited this alot. We have done the drive 12 times, know the stops, pet friendly hotels and where to avoid. We have been robbed and assaulted in parts of Oregon and southern California. Refused use of washrooms at gas stations in Washington state because of the increase in homelessness! Once on the Baja we felt safe and have never had any issues in Mexico… help and friendly locals make the drive amazing in Baja! We quickly travel through the US now as its become quite concerning how much crime and dodgy accommodations are everywhere along the way.

I would love to know how long it took from the California border to San Jose, and where you stopped to stay along the way? Looking for the shortest route.

Hi Lisa we have done the trip a few times Tijuana to Los Cabos in 2 days 1 night but don’t recommend that as its a long way. From Ensenada to Guerrero Negro is scenic but lots of mountainous terrain and can be a little slower. Also do not Drive at might! We prefer the Mexicali highway 5 route as its newer highway and more scenic. Take 3 days and we always stay in San Felipe, Guerrero Negro and Loreto. Baja is amazing so taking time to enjoy it is special!
