Unchecked development has ruined Queenstown. Its infrastructure cannot cope with the load placed on it. Developers carry the greatest weight with the Council and the operating assumption is that the social and physical environment can take a back seat to supposed economic benefit. Council has even left it to citizens to defend challenges to those rulings where it has denied resource consent, rather than defending it themselves effectively giving deep pocket developers the advantage. It’s disgusting.
