Driving Beachwood Canyon in the Hollywood Hills.
======================
Beachwood Canyon is a community in the Hollywood Hills, in the northern portion of Hollywood in Los Angeles, California. The upper portion of the canyon is the Hollywoodland community that was advertised in the 1920s by the original of what is now known as the Hollywood Sign. The neighborhood features its own market, cafe, private mailbox rental, florist and stables. Home to more than 22,000 residents, Beachwood Canyon was first developed in the 1920s by a syndicate composed of West Hollywood's founder, Gen. M. H. Sherman; Los Angeles Times publisher Harry Chandler; and real estate mogul Sidney Woodruff (who also developed Dana Point). The architects and landscapers who developed the enclave drew inspiration from the southern regions of France, Italy and Spain, as well as the turreted castles of Germany, building in the Storybook house architectural style. Many famous celebrities have lived in this neighborhood such as Charlie Chaplin, Kevin Bacon, Madonna, Keanu Reeves, Margot Robbie, Mila Kunis, Halsey, Mila Kunis, Louis Tomlinson and more.

At 1:32:09/2:02:46 is the onetime 2720 Woodhaven Drive residence of Clark Gable and Carol Lombard. Done in the Storybook Style, this style of architecture was popularized in the 1920s in England and the United States. The style took a foothold in California, particularly in Los Angeles, during the 1920s and 1930s. Hollywood was a major influence.

The estate at 2869 Durand Drive 38:31/2:02:46 is known as Wolf Lair Castle. It's a 1927 Norman Revival Storybook Style mansion built on 3.3 acres in the Hollywood Hills It overlooks Lake Hollywood and was constructed by Hollywoodland art director and developer, L. Milton Wolf. According to Curbed LA, Debbie Reynolds, Marlon Brando, and the Beatles have all been occupants at various times. Mobi was a recent owner. ..

For those who are interested in 2021 fellow You Tuber Actionkid on a visit to LA did a walking vid where he walked thru the hilly neighborhood past a gated area where a gate was open and walked up dirt roads and trails to the Hollywood Sign and beyond to the crest of the hill where the radio towers stand . There other natives who were walking in the same area as well as service trucks . The letters of the iconic sign are bigger than you realize . Then he walked over some more dirt roads to the Griffith Observatory and did another vid there . They were spectacular views .

It's odd in such a car centric city like LA that they don't build adequate parking on property. Why is everyone parked in the road? No thanks
@antoniahamilton3201
@antoniahamilton3201 Жыл бұрын
Most of these streets in the Hollywood Hills were laid out in the mid 1920's. One hundred years ago, it was the norm to have only one car per household. Thus, you see these all these older homes with only one garage. You either love living in the Hollywood Hills or you don't. It's rather a bohemian enclave that attracts a large segment of the entertainment industry., It also attracts other movers and shakers in Los Angeles. Some views are downright spellbinding. The Hollywood Hills isn't for everybody.
@imon2u
@imon2u Жыл бұрын
@@antoniahamilton3201 Yeah. A lot of those houses are not from the 1920s. People buy the land, not the house there. They tear them down and plop ugly, lot filling houses. But instead of putting an adequate driveway or garage they just build all house and figure they'll park on the road. Which clogs the road, makes it more difficult for EMTs or Firefighters to get up there a timely fashion. And when there's another big earthquake good luck to all the people who live up there, tiny roads littered with cars and debris. Be stranded for days lol
@antoniahamilton3201
@antoniahamilton3201 Жыл бұрын
@@imon2u A lot of those original homes would have been demolished even if they had been located elsewhere. While I’m all for architectural conservation, most were lacking architectural merit and woefully inadequate. I won’t apologize for other people's taste in residential architecture but there is some newer construction that I think is really impressive. If you observe carefully, you’ll notice most have incorporated larger garages than the ones they replaced. Not all properties here allow for the luxury of an extended driveway. Parking will always be an issue in the Hollywood Hills. You either make peace with that or you don’t live there. Some neighborhoods will always be like that, e.g. beachfront property. And yes, earthquakes are a reality in California. That can’t be denied. Being fearful is legitimate. By the same token, I personally would never want to live in states besieged by destructive and ever worsening tornadoes. Thank you.
@imon2u
@imon2u Жыл бұрын
@@antoniahamilton3201 That's a lie. If that were the case everywhere Oak Park, Illinois would've torn down all the Frank Lloyd Wright homes for newer construction. Grosse Pointe, Michigan would've torn down all their 1920s mansions. Bala Cynwyd, PA, Newport, RI, Nantucket, MA all manage to keep the beautiful older homes while adding new construction. Look what happened to Betty Whites house. The people that bought it didn't want the house, they wanted the land. People buy completely fine, functioning homes there and tear them down even if they're less than 5 years old. Lacking in architectural merit?!? Oh please. As if plopping down a lot sized house with no characteristics other than "big" is architectural merit. Something like 1/3 of garbage comes from building/construction. Could probably halve that if people would buy a house and improve it. Not just knock it down to build to their liking, only to get bored of it, sell, and the new buyer do the same thing. Go on Google Earth, look around Bel Air. Gorgeous homes, and tons of them being torn down for no other reason than to one up each other. Wasteful.

I watch these videos and haven't seen any homeless or marginals yet, but in telegram news chat some idiots make edits with skid row or alley of fame with drug addicted people and showing all this like:" Free Omerika(with sarcasm). Our country is better cause we don't have a lot of drug addicted marginals ". But number of these marginals are less than 1% of all people in US. What do you think, are there a lot strange people? Because you live in LA and I think you know more about it
@omwpov
@omwpov Жыл бұрын
Over the years, homelessness has become more prevalent. You'll notice it in small pockets, but most of it is concentrated in Skid Row, which has always had a substantial homeless population. The Hollywood Walk of Fame area, around 15 blocks, has some homelessness presence. Further down on Figueroa Street, way south of Downtown LA, you'll come across 5ex workers. I considered filming that area, but it's not my style of content, and there are plenty of other channels focusing on that. I don't live in an area where I run into those issues. It just depends on where you decide to live and hang out. The news makes it seem like the whole city is in flames with these issues. However, LA is a huge city and county, and the problems are a small percentage compared to the overall population. But, it's still a growing issue that needs to be fixed. Hope this helps!
