The first part looked like the autostrada's around Genua in Italy. Nice (new) roads, tunnels and viaducts 👍👍

There are many such highway type roads in Croatia called autoceste (plural). And this particular section is arround city of Rijeka.

Some parts of this highway were built in the early 70s

This motorway is planned to be extended further south towards Senj, it will run on the edge of the mountain, cross the Vratnik mountain pass and connect to A1 in the continent.

Driving in Croatia is great. Did you take the A1 or the D8 coastal route?

difficult terrain is a lower road standard. This can be understood compared to misleading drivers that the surface is slippery where, except for one short fragment, it was dry.

Great drive! Why does the A7 use the blue sign instead of the normal green sign since it is a motorway?
@nielsontheroad Жыл бұрын
Maybe they never replaced the old D8 signs?
@Unknown-un2ky Жыл бұрын
Because big portions of it do not have a hard shoulder/emergency lane due to hilly terrain. So it is a highway but it technically counts as an expressway (blue signs)
@brucewillixaspirinix9652 Жыл бұрын
cause it´s technically not a motorway but a 4-lane expressway (it carries the a7 sign temporarily until another motorway, the new a7, is built behind Rijeka in motorway standard)

Because what is Blue is for free. What is green you pay.
@RoadsOfAsiaBen Жыл бұрын
@@ckdanekfan3397 Wrong, it means it is not up to motorway standard due to lack of shoulder so it means it is expressway.
