I have been driving in Italy for 40 years. - I can say that driving in Italy teaches you to be a good driver. - you have to pay attention to the road, without distractions. - you must be attentive to the intentionality of others, because they may not respect the rules. - don't make gestures, don't appear nervous, stay calm in all circumstances. - don't do like others, always respect the rules. - don't take anything for granted, driving is a pleasure but it must be done with great awareness, your car is potentially dangerous for others. 😊

It is said that living on the slopes of Vesuvius is very dangerous (look at what happened in Pompeii). But not as much as crossing on a pedestrian crossing in Italy! 😅

Do the pay booths on the Autostrade accept Apple/Google pay? In the UK, Apple maps is pretty reliable at telling you about upcoming speed cameras - is that the same for Italy?

If you are driving your own car from the UK then you don't need to worry about speed cameras, only being stopped by police. Driving a rental car may be another matter however.

They accept contactless payments, just make sure you get in the correct lane - the signs are very clear.

You missed explaining what 'truffa dello specchietto' is. Every driver should be aware.

It’s simple. Drive as reckless and fast as possible. Ignore all stop signs and never look in the direction of oncoming traffic, only in the direction that you want to drive. The posted speed limits is the slowest recommended speed. Of course, when you see pedestrians or motorcyclists, try to come as close as possible without actually hitting them. And NEVER put your phone down.
